If we win Wednesday, then lose to OSU Friday or Saturday, do you guys lay off of him a little? Or is getting to the semifinals of the CWS not considered "competing for championships"?

Nobody should be upset with this team. Honestly ya it sucks not winning the whole thing but this team has made a great run and it's still not over yet.

I'll be pretty impressed if he finds a way to beat FSU and OSU in game 1 of the semifinals. If we lose game 2, I will be upset but the loss of Walker really killed our pitching depth.

Well OSU looks unbeatable. PM did a great job this year turning around a very mediocre first half or 2/3 of the season and got them rolling. Credit the players as well of course, but even the dumbest ranter such as myself shouldn't have a problem with PM this year.

My only complaint with him would be his handling of Walker, and I'd need to have more information to assess that fairly. Did he put Walker out there to throw with a pre-existing injury? Poor management by the guy who is supposed to watch out for a freshmans arm and why would you pitch Poche Friday if you knew?

For all the talk about how game 1 is a must win, it really isn't. I'd argue that game 2 is a much more important game, whether you're in the winner's or loser's bracket. We're now in the same situation as FSU only without any momentum coming off a 13-1 drubbing while they just beat a good CSF team

with all the talent coming back, LSU should be at the series, but poor coaching can bring the best talent down, see cpm

Losing Walker was it.

His seat needs to be hot, his continued failure in Omaha is telling. What ever happened to the report that Walker was out? Seems PM put the team in a bad place by starting him.

Also, he needs to get a new hitting coach, this team crumbles at the plate when it counts. OSU put on a clinic at the plate yesterday and put the pressure on the D and they crumbled too.

Really very similar to these two.

All three won national titles
All three brought different schools to their sports championship event.
All three were elected to their sports Hall of fame
All three won four SEC Championships
All three were four-time national coach of the year

Strikingly similar!

Did people not even watch the game? It was reported before that Walker felt fine. Walker felt fine through the first two innings. He felt his forearm tighten during warm ups for the third inning. This is why Gilbert was already warming up. This is why CPM knew to go get him without much communication. Nobody in this situation did anything wrong.

I believe you answered this question when you asked this one

quote:

why would you pitch Poche Friday if you knew?

If he knew Walker was not 100 percent he would not have pitched Poche Saturday night.

I'll be fine with him because he turned this team around, they had a clear awakening. However, his on field decisions leave him open to attack all too often.

Had we not won against Florida State and Hess/Poche flopped, then everyone would have asked why he did not pitched Newman.

Last night, people will always question whether or not pitching Eric Walker was the right call. If you knew the chance of aggravating the injury was high, why throw him? Maybe keep him for a setup role to where he was only asked to throw 2-4 innings, instead he had the weight of the full game on his mind. Having Poche for tomorrow night may have always been the plan, we shall see.

Did they confirm he's done? I thought it was just soreness that he can work out/through?

This was never said anywhere but on the rant. CPM said he felt soreness and they were going to evaluate him after another bullpen. They did he felt fine they put Poche in pen and started Walker. His forearm tightened warming up and then he was done. Do you guys really think CPM and more specifically Dunn who has always used caution with pitchers would put him out there thinking they were risking injury when Poche was a legit option by just not pitching him Saturday?
