A few friends I know live in Old Metairie and really like it. I'm not sure that it falls into the same issues as uptown where you have million dollar houses a block over from bad areas, but I could be wrong.

However, if I'm moving to NOLA, I'd look for a place near Audubon Park south of St Charles.

neighborhoods similar to St. George, Bluebonnet or even Goodwood.

I'm sure that there are several nice streets in N.O. that border on high crime areas.

What is considered "St. George" in Baton Rouge? What is considered "Bluebonnet"? I have a rough idea as to what is considered "Goodwood."

Why the hell does this get three downvotes and no answer? It was a serious question.

That's a very nice area. Anything west of Jefferson not on Tchoup is likely good. Get your financials ready to go. Houses in that area sell very fast. I'm helping a friend look, and there isn't anything under $700k on the market right now.

You can get a lot of house in English Turn these days for a good bit less comparably speaking to other areas of the city proper.

I guess it's got as much of a BR suburban type feel as anything in the area, if that's what he's looking for.

I'm still not quite sure, though.

A neighborhood where there is on entrance/exit and all of the houses look the same? Not really. Maybe in Harahan.
