do we anything to give the Pacers to make this happen?
S&T with Holiday, first round picks?

No...unless they can make a package to unload asik...then I'd be interested

Why would a team ready to hit the reset button want Holiday? The deal to make for Paul George is a mortgage the future deal like Brooklyn made for Paul Pierce and KG. If it works out you're a contender. If it fails you're the worst team in the league for a few years before you can even start collecting high picks to rebuild.
IIRC Brooklyn traded 3 future 1sts and a pick swap. A similar deal for George would be 2018 + 2020 picks, a 2019 pick swap and then one of Diallo or 2022 1sts. But if it looks like we're going after PG-13 you have to think there's a chance the Lakers enter the mix and they have enough young assets to beat anything the Pels could offer.

That is WAY too much. Paul's agent tanked his trade value. He wants to go to LA. You are buying a one year rental. He is not going to fetch much at all because it is basically contenders bidding for a rental. LA already said they aren't going to give up real assets to get him this year.
Personally I don't know if I really want George in AD's ear for a year talking about LA even if it gets us into 2nd round.

I agree except can the Lakers afford to let George try out another team? It just seems anyone going after him they see as a threat would pull the Lakers into a bidding war.

Only teams I see scaring LA in anyway are BOS, LAC, MIA, and maybe CLE.
I don't think LA would bid against us.

From Woj

Sources: Indiana's Kevin Pritchard engaging teams on trading Paul George, but so far, not Lakers. There's a rental market, but how robust?

quote:You honestly think the prospect of forging a team centered around George, AD, and Cousins isn't at least a little swaying? I mean, he goes to LA, sure he's on the big stage, but he's on the big rebuild with the next best player being Brandon Ingram, D'Angelo Russell, and whoever they draft.

They'll be dangerous in like two or three seasons. But he stays here, could be dangerous right now.
I mean, yeah. We probably won't trade for him at all because we kinda can't, without unloading a ton of picks, but the notion has merit I think.

Excellent rental until Lebron becomes a FA the year after.

Cavs gonna rent for one more title, and then LeBron and PG13 both bolt to LA.

According to Hoops Rumors the Pacers are telling inquiring teams that they want two firsts and a starting caliber player.
I wonder if Jrue would be amicable to a sign-and-trade there? Lauren is from Indiana, so he has ties. He would be a good player for them and would help in their rebuild.

George is not coming to New Orleans.

Odds are extremely unlikely but his value is diminished with being one year rental. Pels will and should contact.
No one though Boogie was possible either.

Pacers aren't going to get the value they think they deserve. George's agent has killed that. His agent also reps Russell and Randle on LA and has told the Lakers not to do a Melo from Denver type deal. Wants them to keep their assets. They can then reshape the roster around Paul George.

They'll be lucky to get one first that is a lottery pick and a starting caliber player.

I fully believe that PG wants to go to LA today. But bring him here, win a ton of games. Sweat and bleed with AD and Boogie. Fight hard and lose a tough battle in the playoffs.
He does all that, and he is gonna leave for a team full of teenagers and take less money/guaranteed years? You sure?
If there is even a 25% chance we keep him, that's better than any chance we have at adding any other 3rd star anytime soon.
I'd give up 2018, do 2019 and 2020 swap rights. Maybe they want Hill back to mentor the young guys as they go for a rebuild. I would at least try and wouldn't be so sure that it will be just a rental

Don't know how long your list of contacts are outside the Pels, but what's the market for PG13 right now? 2 mid first round picks the going rate?
Also is the Boston trade related to getting PG13 type? I thought the trade was perplexing.

PG13 will be a Cav or a Laker. That's what the 4 people I know who work in the league ALL believe

Lakers makes sense for the Pacers in terms of assets. How could the Cavs top any offering the Lakers have, assuming the Pacers jump straight into a rebuild?
