ew criminal trials in Massachusetts have provoked as much outrage as the case against Michelle Carter, the young woman who is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly pressuring her boyfriend via text message to kill himself in 2014.
The negative publicity was intense after the death of 18-year-old Conrad Roy III so Carter’s lawyers opted for a bench trial. They’ll learn whether the gamble paid off at 11 a.m. Friday, when Bristol Juvenile Court Judge Lawrence Moniz announces his verdict.

“So I guess you aren’t gonna do it then, all that for nothing … I’m just so confused like you were so ready and determined,” she said.
“You’re finally going to be happy in heaven. No more pain. It’s okay to be scared and it’s normal. I mean, you’re about to die.”
“I thought you wanted to do this. The time is right and you’re ready … just do it babe,” she said.
“I helped ease him into it and told him it was okay … I could’ve easily stopped him or called the police but I didn’t,” she texted her friend.

Having told a lot of people to kill themselves, I find this a little troubling.

What kind of penalties might she face come sentencing?

Are we slowly moving to the point where not just sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can too???

Doubt you meant it, or told it to someone who was in serious need of psycological help.
If you did mean it...you're a sick F

I think she is being treated as a juvenile since she was 17 at the time.

Your thread is better than the other one.

I've never said it to anyone outside of a Star Wars argument.

I think this is a case where she went a little above and beyond just standing by and doing nothing.

That's terrifying.

Sentencing is on August 3.
They did not revoke her bail so she gets to stay out of jail until then. Wow.

Just stop responding to Lucas. He's the biggest trolling retard on this board. Go read his post history.

Based on what the judge just said, she was convicted because they day he killed himself, she did nothing to stop it, and failed to alert authorities and or his parents once she knew he was actually going to do it, and that he was actually dead from it. Well that and encouraging him to get back in the truck and move the generator.
The judge acknowledged that the guy was trying multiple times to kill himself, had researched it, and every time, chose to live instead. But that he had emotional/mental issues, that he just wouldn't deal with.

I implore you to read up on the case and actually read the text messages that were exchanged before making such a broad statement.
