We're sorry your son didn't get a scholarship offer to LSU and went to Texas. It's a great school, he will be fine. Just because your attempt to bring his school to Baton Rouge didn't work out and YOU are pissed off doesn't mean the rest of Louisiana coaches feel the same way.

LOL, the funny part is the group of people who are really pissed about the cancellations are... LOUISIANA HIGH SCHOOL COACHES! This will do more damage to Orgeron in recruiting than simply letting Texas hold a camp there. It's not like Texas camping in Louisiana would cause them to steal all of LSU's recruits, angering local high school coaches by not letting their players get exposure to other universities (not everyone goes to LSU) on the other hand could do a lot. Keep it up, Orgeron! Keep winning (losing) those important hearts and minds!
I was not expecting to wake up to a Melt this morning.... love it

I was kidding that the poster was the coach in the article whose son is at Texas. Malcolm Roach.

Also, how do we know that LSU is who shut down this camp? Southern has a huge camp today with TCU, Texas Tech, and every other Louisiana school except LSU and Grambling. Maybe they didn't want Texas detracting from their camp? How will the kids be hurt when this huge camp is the same day?

Sounds like someone is trying to slurp up everything a parent of a current Texas player that happens to be a Louisiana high school coach is saying. Keep believing that nonsense. LSU and Orgeron will continue to run this state.

Update: Camp in Hammond, La., featuring Texas has been cancelled due to LSU pressure. Hal Mumme unhappy w/Orgeron. Costs Belhaven $5,000.
LSU should cut Belhaven a check for this, or give them some other form of compensation
And I love how the article makes it sound like Texas is just doing this out of goodness of their sweet little hearts.
OF COURSE they want to steal some 4 and 5 star LA recruits from LSU! If Texas/Houston insist on doing these camps in LA, then LSU should get them to agree to host an LSU satellite camp right outside of Austin or in Houston.

This is pretty bad reporting.
LSU didn't block the camp alone. LSU co-opted literally every other in-state football schools that matters....they're ALL invited to the LSU/Tulane camps. Therefore, they're now ALL against in-state camps featuring out-of-state schools.
UT got blocked by a coalition of every football school in Louisiana.
I like how the article says Roach has no skin in the game and then goes on to say his son plays for UT.

Got a friend that works in Texas athletic dept and she said that this was cancelled weeks ago because of Orgeron. Not sure why it's just going public.

the article said the original location in BR was shut down a while back, but that this was a new location.

Does LSU have any camps set up in Texas?

Freakin Roach trying to stick it to LSU like back when he was at The Lab
quote:
This marks the third announced camp in Louisiana that Texas was scheduled to take part in. And it’s the third camp that LSU has worked hard behind the scenes to prevent from happening. In a phone interview earlier on Tuesday, the local high school coach who initially helped facilitate the field for the Baton Rouge camp expressed pessimism about it happening. “We're in LSU's backyard,” said Mike Roach, the coach at Madison Prep in Baton Rouge and the father of Texas player Malcolm Roach. “Louisiana home cooking may have played a part in it.”? Roach, who initially tried to help facilitate the camp, declined to go into details on what LSU may have done to attempt to prevent the camp from being held at Memorial Stadium. But his comments proved to be prescient.

how many delusional, self serving assholes are on that board to somehow convince themselves that these kids are going to turn on LSU because we didn't let another team attempt to cherry pick our in-state players? Maybe they would've gotten Chaisson, Jamal Adams, etc. had their coach not been a pussy who let us go in and raid their state repeatedly.
Good for Orgeron here. Dude knows how to recruit and play the game unlike Herman thus far.
