A couple friends came by our house to pick me up and go somewhere but my mom said I couldn't go for some reason. Not 10 minutes later after they left, the car flipped on a country road and killed them both. I still think about that shite.

You dropped 10 hits of acid at one time? If that's what you meant then there is no way that acid was that good unless you were doing it constantly and had to take that much.
Phish tour that summer, followed by fall semester meant that I did a lot of acid. 10 strip Tuesday's were a regular thing back then. Some psychedelic rangers explore a little harder than others

On my bike in pouring rain at rush hour on the 110 headed north. Or Desert Storm about .5 miles from a scud explosion. 22 engineers died in the blast.

I was in a crazy bad accident two summers ago. Would have died if I was driving my car or if I wasn't wearing a seatbelt

It was at least 25 years ago but I got into a little scuffle with a guy at a bar , nothing that bad . I hit him and he hit me . Couple guys broke it up ,no big deal. I go to leave later in the night and the guy comes up from behind me and puts a gun to my head. I was by myself and no one else was in the parking lot at the time. I apologized and after a few minutes ,he backed away and told me that if I ever crossed his path again he would kill me.... I remember thinking at the time how hard my parents were going to take my death. I really thought he was going to shoot me

I was temporarily on a platform in the gulf of mexico getting some equipment to bring to another platform. While I was there, the boss man suddenly stopped all work and called a meeting. Turned out they were wielding next to some shite they shouldn't have been wielding next to. We were told if that shite would have caught a spark, everybody on that platform would have be vaporized. That was a sobering morning.

Yeah you can definitely build up a tolerance so to speak. Looking back it was unhealthy as hell.

walking down the side of a street while working when a garbage truck about a block away hit a power pole. high voltage power line fell and landed between my coworker who was walking beside me. took me a minute or so to realize just how close we came to dying.

Had I not slowed down, there's a good chance that car would have slammed directly into my driver's side.
Similar story here: In high school, I used to gun it when stop lights turned green. Well, one night at a rural highway intersection, the stop light turned green, but I didn't immediately floor it. Maybe I was distracted by my passengers or maybe my knee buckled for a second while hitting the clutch. Either way, those couple of seconds were just enough to let a big rig I hadn't noticed blow thru the red light without sending me to my Maker.
But maybe the closest where I had that "this is it" feeling was when I had walking pneumonia in my mid-twenties. It hits so fast and it can take the lives of even young, healthy individuals b
