I don't trust most critics because the nature of the controversy surrounding the movie. The fact that it is a female led superhero movie seems to predominate the thought of all critics. They either pander to it or hate it.

So I ask the relatively more sane M/TV Board. My understanding from friends who have seen it is that it doesn't do anything to break the mold, but it is pretty well executed, enjoyable, and an overall fun movie that is worth seeing, though maybe not in theaters. Chris Pine is apparently quite good as the love interest and Gal Gadot is both gorgeous and decent in her role.

Is that about right or is the movie really something special like it's 93% RT rating and 76 Metacritic rating suggest?

I would agree with most of that. I would say it's very well executed, paced and worth seeing in theaters. Doesn't really have any major flaws.

Pretty much this. It's just the first Thor and Captain America put into a blender to make something that is better than either of them. It does the origin story particularly well, and I'd say its the best superhero origin story since Batman Begins.

Yes. If it was a Marvel movie, it would easily be one of the best, if not the best.

The Metacritic rating is about right. People are going crazy over it because the DC cinematic universe can finally hang its hat on a good film, but it's pretty standard fare for a superhero film. Nowhere near as good as either of the last two Captain America films, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Ant Man.

Yeah, there's a lot of critics and commentators who like to attach their personal agenda to the movie and run with it regardless of the actual quality and/or message of the movie.

But the good reviews are warranted. I really enjoyed the movie. It's vastly superior to any of the recent DCCU movie's and most of the very recent Marvel movies. It succeeds because the movie has levity to it that enhances the character developments.

It succeeds as a superhero movie because there are situations the characters go through that only a superhero could survive, but rally every other character because of these superheroic fears of courage.

I definitely recommend seeing the movie. It's by no means an exceptional movie as it has some flaws. However, the flaws don't detract from the enjoyableness of the film.

I didn't want to believe the hype but it was indeed as good as advertised. Can't name much I didn't like.

It was a Marvel movie, but with a DC character.

As a marvel fanboy who hates women, I can honestly say I haven't seen it yet. But I'll let you know.

I think we can officially add to the list of movies you're not allowing to say anything negative about on the M/TV board. Its that good.

Yeah. It's that good.

Now, this isn't an A+ movie. I think it's an A-. That's how I would honestly score it.

But rest assured... this is not a "girl power" movie (unless you want it to be). This is a movie about a hero from outside our world who enters our world and tries to fix it.

She just happens to be a woman. That's all.

There's plenty of men in the cast, and I don't think any of them are there as a stooge for feminist propaganda.

People will see what they want to see in this movie, but from a reasonably objective viewpoint... there's not a lot on the screen to fuel feminism at the expense of alienating male viewers.

It is. Not that it's 93% perfect, but you'd be hard pressed to see it and not enjoy it.

They took a gamble with the setting (Wonder Woman's comic origin timeline has moved forward to the present day along with Superman and Batman. There was no need to set her origin one hundred years in the past), but it separates it from every other superhero origin film and allows Wonder Woman to come of age at a time when the supposed inferiority of women was without question.

It's the odd character and actress that everyone has embraced. Liberals love the feminist and pacifist warrior aspects while conservatives enjoy that Gadot herself is a former soldier and the character treats men as equals.

There's enough corn to keep it from appearing as a botched attempt to make superheroes real and there's enough character development and drama to make you care about the characters.

It's just a good mix and the best casting of a superhero since Christopher Reeve.

It's a solid movie, and easily the best thing DC has been associated with yet. As anything with Snyder, you're going to have amazing visuals, but the plot was very mediocre. There was a lot of times where I thought to myself they just copied and pasted the first Captain America movie, honestly. You'll definitely enjoy it, but it's not this gift to cinema that many are making it out to be.

It's good...not great. I heard somewhere that it's the greatest Marvel movie the DCEU has made. It's kinda true. It's a little Captain America First Avenger sprinkled with some Thor. Doesn't mean it's a bad movie, because it's not, it's very good...just not great.

It's not at all a "I am woman, hear me roar" movie. It's a very solid movie about Wonder Woman. I actually loved it and might go as far as to say it's my favorite super hero movie out of all of them.
