If We Sign Holiday, What Next?

This is my first post on this board. I use to post on Pelicansreport (I refuse to post on there again), so some of you are familiar with me. I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but some will remember I have been advocating for aquiring Bledsoe for a long time now. I also always viewed Holiday as a combo guard (like he was at UCLA). I have always griped about the team ignoring the draft and not having a G-League team. My dream offseason would be:Signing Holiday, trading for Bledsoe (Moore, Ajinca, 2018 1st), and signing Bogdanovic with our MLE.
PG - Bledsoe / Frazier
SG - Holiday / Crawford
SF - Hill / Bogdanovic
PF - Cousins / Diallo
C - Davis / Asik
What if this plan doesn't work, what's plan B?
First we have to re-sign Holiday (even if that also means signing his brother also). The team doesn't have enough depth to let Holiday walk (especially after losing Ryno and Gordon for nothing). Unless CP3 leaves the Clippers, I don't think Holiday will find a better fit for himself than the Pels. If CP3 leaves the Clippers, I think Jrue will be his replacement in LA.
The Holiday brothers and a backup big (on a minimum salary) would likely be the only FA's we be able to afford. For the minimum, I would bring back Terrance Jones (or a similar player). This alone won't be enough to get the Pelicans in the playoffs. We would need to upgrade the roster without having much ammunition to work with. Our main trade chips are: #40 pick 2017, 2018 1st round pick, Frazier, Moore, Ajinca, and Pondexter's expiring. I didn't include Diallo, I think it would be foolish to trade our only player with upside on the roster. I didn't include Asik, nobody wants him (just like we don't).
With our trade chips, I think we can realistically get a good player in return. If Boogie is used more in a Point Forward role this year, maybe the team would focus it's attention on getting some size and shooting on the wing. If this is the case, ideal targets would be: Batum, Carmelo, Crabbe, Fornier, Bazemore If we can't get one of them, I guess we would have to settle for a player like (who would be useful, but not ideal): MKG,Tobias,Turner,Carroll, W Chandler.
PG - Holiday / Frazier
SG - Crabbe / Crawford
SF - Hill / Holiday
PF - Cousins / Diallo
C - Davis / Asik

DUde. Did you link us to your Amazon page or something?
You do NOT want to do that. Trust me.

You'll probably like it here. TD is way more tolerant of mayhem than PR.

At this point talking about challenging the Warriors seems silly, but Marc Stein posted today about how games 1 and 2 have been the fastest paced playoff games LeBron has ever played. If LeBron and the Cavs can't run with the Warriors, nobody else should bother trying.
If you were to build a team that could push the Warriors out of their comfort zone, it seems to me a roster similar to what you listed would be it. Bigs that they couldn't match but are mobile enough to stay on the court, a strong defense, and the ability to slow things down by living at the Free Throw line. I think adding Bledsoe to Holiday would be a build that may not take the Warriors out, but could probably repeat the success of the Grizzlies in being the mid seed team that puts the fear of God in the top seeds and pushes them to 6 or 7 games.

And that seems like a great place to be for the next couple of years as long as you don't have any more awful contracts and retain flexibility.
That's been your position all along, correct?

I would imagine the league hopes the warriors have to lose a primary piece and a lot of depth in 2/3 years. If you are that pesky team with 2 stars and some flexibility, maybe you're lucky enough to pick up a third star that can push you into golden states stratosphere.

I think everyone is expecting the Pels to be in the playoffs next year. Seeding tbd based on offseason

I still want to swing for the fences but you have to crawl before you can walk. This team has to get back to being a playoff team before they can even think about being something more. Become a top 4 seed without adding any difficult to move contracts and then you'll have the ability to attract the star level players that won't qualify for the new veteran extensions.

I hope we swing for the fences this offseason (we have to make the playoffs this year for Boogie to re-sign). We need one more star to be a really competitive team (if we re-sign Holiday). This player could be a PG,SG,or SF. With our assets, if we add any of the following, we will be good to go: Bledsoe, Carmelo, Dragic, Batum, Schroeder, Bradley. Players like Clarkson, Crabbe, and Rubio would all help (to a lesser degree).

We're in such a weird space here.
We've got the two best bigs in all the NBA, and yet we're somehow still at a grave disadvantage?
Just feels wrong. I can't abide by the occasional "We're screwed" comment I see. I guess it really does hinge on whether we retain Jrue at a max deal or not.

We've got two of the best bigs in the league in an era where bigs are less important that ever.
It would be like having the best fullback and run stuffing defensive tackle in the league in the NFL. That's great and all, but the NFL is all about who your QB is. In the NBA, it's all about perimeter guys.

Yeah....No.....That is a terrible analogy.
I'd put it more in line with having 2 top 5 WR's but no QB...

Do top receivers get taken off the field in the most important plays of the game? No.
Do bigs? All the time. The Cavs have two very good, very highly paid bigs and they can't have them both on the fooor.

It's funny you say that as I've always compared the Pels to an NFL team. Anthony Davis to me is like Calvin Johnson. Obviously superior to everyone else in every single way. Any organization or fan would kill to have him on their team. But how much of an impact can he really have?
I feel the center position is like an offensive line. It's still important. It really is. And a good O-line can be impactful. But without a QB or defense, it's fairly inconsequential.
PG is very much the QB of the NBA. The teams go as the PG's go. Steph Curry and Lebron are Brady and Peyton right now. I've always considered Jrue to be like Matt Stanford ish. Couple of injuries ruining whole seasons. You see the talent, but the results just aren't really there.
And the wings are the defense. And defense wins championships as they say. We have an average QB and no defense. Add questionable coaching and that makes for a bad basketball team, even with a good Oline and flashy WR.
