This might be stupid but I'm researching for a cousin.
We have a casino and when you come out, the road slightly curves to the right where you are entering a two lane one way. The other two lanes are divided by grass section about 20 feet apart. So it's impossible to even consider going left. I know you have to come to a stop but do you have you use your right turn signal to go right (only way you can possibly go)??
Any help would be great.

It would make sense to use so people behind you can know you're going to slow down. But not necessary

I only use my turn signal when making U turns across the median on an interstate so I wouldn't bother with that.

This too. On another note, why do we even have to make threads or ask about turning signals? Is it that hard to flick a signal? If it's even a question, no matter how dumb you think it might be, just use the fricking blinker.

I've never heard of someone getting carpal tunnel and suffering subsequent death from using their turning signal too much.

Isn't this the reason for brake lights?

You use a turn signal before you brake so people behind you know that you will be braking to turn soon. God this thread is a perfect example of why LA is #1 in cost of auto insurance. People from LA have no idea what a turn signal is or how to read one. If the lane your in is a turn only lane then you don't need one, but if youre in a normal lane you should always use a signal

Yes you need to use your turn signal evern if it's a turn only lane . It isn't enforced in Baton Rouge but try that crap in a small town like Zachary. They have nothing better to do then write tickets all day.

B. Whenever a person intends to make a right or left turn which will take his vehicle from the highway it is then traveling, he shall give a signal of such intention in the manner described hereafter and such signal shall be given continuously during not less than the last one hundred (100) feet traveled by the vehicle before turning

People that turn at intersections and not signal when it's obvious that traffic is yielding to them need to burn in hell!!!!!

Just use the damned signal.

Here's the law in Louisiana. Pretty much the same as everywhere else in the US.

quote:

The signals provided for in R.S. 32:105(B) shall be used to indicate an intention to turn, change lanes or start from a parked position and shall not be flashed on one side only on a parked or disabled vehicle, or flashed as a courtesy or "do pass" signal to operators of other vehicles approaching from the rear.

How slow is your reaction time? You may need to reevaluate whether you should be driving. You sound like a danger behind the wheel.

People who must have never driven in other states must really believe this is a Louisiana thing...it happens everywhere!

If we are making a list of poor driving practices that contribute to traffic in Louisiana, not using turn signals doesn't fall in the top 20.

I've driven in Louisiana 3 times. Each time was insane. Each time I eventually stopped at a light or sign, looked at my dad, and asked, "what the frick are these people doing?"

The most noticeably crazy thing was trying to exit neighborhoods while people drove 60 in a 25. Good lord.
