The fact that you advertise that you are a doctor in both your handle and your profile makes me think you base your entire self worth around the fact that you earned your MD.
It's not like the DO gastroenterologist is doing spinal manipulations instead of an EGD/colonoscopy for a GI bleed.
Wasn't LA College going to start a DO school a few years back? What happened to that?

1/2 of Med school is spent in patient care. I'm not sure where you're impression of Med school comes from. 3rd and 4th year involve rotations thru hospitals and clinics

It's what they don't learn that is problematic
Volume is how you get exposure to stuff

Oh man where do I start
I like how u assume surgery is always more mentally challenging than disease diagnosis and treatment.
Also nps are not as educated as dos

Well then fricking educate this board and explain what DO's don't learn that makes them so inferior. We are all waiting and you've provided no reason's other than basic bs. What is the difference or are you just trolling everyone?

I think this would affect the Carribean med schools more than LSUHSC-S/NO, in regards to enrollment/competition for spots.

Best doctor we see is a DO who is an immunologist. She solved one problem with my 2 year old that 3 MDs (including one ENT that is well published and highly regarded and 2 from the highly overrated Collins Pediatrics in Old Metairie), 2 surgeries, and about $7k of copays couldn't fix.
Her answer costs us maybe $10 a month and we haven't had a problem in over a year.
She also solved a problem that an urgent care and a PCP MDs couldn't solve.
Some MDs are great, but many are self inflated and think only other MDs can fix their level of problems.

I am quite aware of how medical school works. DO students also spend their 3rd and 4th years on clinical rotations in all of the same specialties that MD students do. They take shelf exams.
Also, even if there was some glaring difference in curriculum, which there isn't, all doctors know the vast majority of your practical knowledge comes from residency not medical school.

D.O.s can be found in multiple residencies at the majority of post grad programs.

The MD's that are threatened by DO's are probably mediocre doctors.

Wtf does that even mean? Do you think those students are just piddling around doing nothing during their 4 years of graduate school, residency, & fellowship? Newsflash, they take the same board exams as you; the only difference is the letters behind their names.

I work with DO's who are great and just as qualified as any MD. Not sure how getting more docs in our state is a bad thing

Do you refuse to see a DMD for your teeth, opting for a DDS?

They don't have as many teachers in as many subjects in their schools. They on average did not do as well on the mcat, college grades, or the usmle as MDs. On average they do not have the same amount of knowledge. They are not exposed to as much pathology/disease because their schools are smaller and have less resources on average. It's not a hard distinction if you go thru medical training and watch. Sometimes they don't know anatomy when they call other doctors
