Because you're wrong. For our progressive friends the history of freedom of the US is to be scorned as the enemy of their socialist utopia.
They hate the sacrifices the USv troops have made. They hate our freedom. One only need to look to their descriptor of anyone who opposes them as NAZI to see where this leads

Every single American soldier who put on their uniform and went to fight and ultimately died for their country deserves to be remembered and honored. It's a holiday when these political stupidiesnahkuld be kept to oneself as the soldiers, sailers, and airmen didn't make that sacrifice because of their political beliefs but for the love of their country.

For those of you that feel apathy for this holiday I urge you to talk directly to someone that has been in battle and witnessed their friends and commrades take bullets and die. Their mental and emotional pain never dies. YOU, meanwhile, benefit from it by continuing the style of life you've come to know.
