I couldn't bring myself to vote for Trump in the Presidential election. But I hated Hillary worse than I disliked Trump. I just didn't vote. Hillary was the worst candidate the Dems could have put forth, yet African Americans still overwhelmingly voted for her. You tell me about a mindset. You used the argument, by the way. I didn't.
So instead of giving the Independent or 3rd party candidate a serious look, you decided not to vote or you voted for Trump? What Dem would you have voted for in the Presidential election?

It's Montana! Are you serious?
It was a statewide race because Montana has one rep.
Montana also has a dem senator.
So one of their 3 Congress members is Dem.
What is your point?

Our governor is a Democrat as well. Beat out Gianforte last time.

Yes and he wanted to buy an RV.
The FBI needs to raid all of the RV dealerships in and around Montana.

Because a republican won in Kansas and Montana. Well that's shocking! Let's pump the brakes a bit and see how the next 12 months go.
Hey, don't forget Georgia. (We won there too)

This is just a Russian smoke screen trying to protect a Putin asset!
He wanted to raise rabbits, marry a big girl, and have her cook the rabbits for him.
RV dealerships are just a red herring! Look for rabbit ranches and fat women!

Yes they have have learned two things:
1) They keep aligning behind bad candidates that can't defeat horrible Republicans
2) Putin can whoop their arses anytime and anywhere he chooses

I just didn't vote. Just couldn't. The thought of either made my stomach queasy. That said, Trump hasn't been as bad as I thought, and i actually like some of the things he is trying to do. Yep. I get aggravated with his ego, and the way he does and says some things.
But he is not nearly as bad as most on here make him out to be.

Couldn't vote Dem. Abortion is the big issue with me.

Lol, are you actually bragging about retaining a ruby red STATE senate seat that almost always sees the Republican incumbent run unopposed?
Because, if we're going to start counting state legislative races, the Dems have already flipped two seats in districts Trump won.
LINK
Or did you take Trump's tweet about the special congressional election in Georgia to mean the Republicans won? That's probably it, huh?
Well, they didn't. That's a district Trump won and they were BARELY able to keep a Democrat from winning it outright in the jungle primary, and now they're panicking trying to hold on to the district in the runoff.

Honestly I think it is pretty much pointless attempting to have this conversation on a board that often treats politics and truth like a team sport.
The objective takeaway from last night is that the overall trend in these special elections has been Democratic momentum since November.
In every single major race since november, the gaps that were once stark, have closed dramatically. Performing on average roughly 10 points greater then historical trends of the last two elections. If that shift continued into next year(no guarantee), the Democrats would win the House pretty favorably.
But that argument would require people to accept the truth that these races have more to them then just W's and L's like it is a football game. People aren't ready to do that. Much like the left before November, they are ignoring all the little things that suggest the status quo is not safe.

And where did you find this valuable information may I ask?

That Democrats have a decent shot at taking the house next year if trends continue.

I don't care about the state's strong party affiliation.
According to Dems, the Trump admin could not be going worse. He's a total disaster. 2018 will be a bloodbath. Polls show the Democrat could win in Montana.
Then, a guy who lost the Republican race for Governor in Montana recently just fricking body slammed a reporter 24 hours before the election.
The national media ran with it like a starving dog would with a steak.
The Republican still won.
Democrats had better start joining reality, or Trump is going to have a larger majority in 2018, especially in the Senate.

For whatever reason the Democrats have trouble getting their message out, particularly in rural flyover country dominated by its demigod Rush.
I'm not aware of anything constructive Trump has done since he took the oath of office. Why Republicans (and particularly Trump Republicans like Gianforte) win is one of life's unsolved mysteries.

Polls show the Democrat could win in Montana.
One poll had Quist losing by like 6 points, which is close to reality. The other polls had him down like 14.
Most votes had already been cast by the time of the assault, and most people hadn't heard about it, or at least hadn't heard the audio, by the time they voted.
A strong democratic candidate would have made the race close, but even then, flipping a state that voted Trump by 20% in less than a year would have been a long shot.
You're the one who needs a reality check. Montana shifting left by more than 10% a bad sign.

The Republican who lost a statewide election less than a year ago freaking body slammed a reporter, was roasted in the media, and still beat the Democrat.
Democrats are delusional if they don't see that their narrative and strategy isn't working.
Was the margin the same as Trump's? No.
However, for the love of God, look at how bad Todd Akin lost in a Republican state like Missouri for doing much less.
Just like the 2016 polls, Democrats don't realize how bad their normalizing the fricking nutjobs taking center stage in their party are hurting their party.
I just hope they continue to do so.

Republican districts electing republicans is surprising to no one.
