Can someone help me cut the cord like I'm a 3 year old?

I've had enough of uverse. Only thing I really care about are getting locals and LSU sports. We have Netflix and Amazon prime. Internet will probably stay with att, but I will be getting rid of the cable in the meantime.

I don't know. Sounds dangerous. I wouldn't trust a 3-year old with scissors.

I had UVerse and cut the cord about 2 years ago, here's what I did:
1) Keep your ATT internet
2) Cancel your ATT TV (as long as you're off contract. If not you'll owe a fee.)
3) Return your ATT equipment at a local UPS or FedEx store (I forget which one they do for free.)
4) Buy a Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV or Roku or even a PS4 or Xbox One S. This will be your main media streaming device
5) Sign up for SlingTV or PlayStation Vue or Hulu Live TV or Directv now
Note that your live tv streaming service really depends on your device you use to stream tv. As in, if you get an Xbox One S, you can't use PlayStation Vue as your live tv service since they don't play nice.

Get an Amazon fire box and HD antenna. All the hardware you need.
HD antenna will give you local channels (plus some weird but cool ones). Fire box you need to side load Kodi (see the countless threads or YouTube it). Sports you can use watch espn if you jack someone's password...or subscribe to sling/vue/etc. and pay like $25 a month.

Depending on how serious you are about watching LSU sports at home, you might need to upgrade to the more premium packages of TV streaming services to get channels like ESPNU and SEC Network. If you have any specific questions I can answer them - I've cut the chord for three years now.

Lsu sports is the only thing keeping me on cable, so I'd say pretty serious. I have access to an ESPN and HBO log in.

Okay then you don't necessarily need to get a cable streaming service. As long as you get an hd antenna for the time lsu football is on cbs and you get amazon fire tv and log in to watch espn on that, you should catch all their games on espn, secn and Secn+

Should I get the tv or stick? Just cancelled tv, they let me go easier than I thought.

Both will work but put the extra cash down for the tv. It's quicker, less buffering and more storage. Plus you can hardline your Ethernet into it if your router is close.

Agree. Spend the extra $$ on the Amazon Fire TV. The stick is laggy and frustrating at times. The Fire TV is not.

The last thing I want is lag when trying to watch lsu on WatchESPN.

... and it's sluggish when you bounce around applications. Like going from WatchESPN to SlingTV, or something thereof.

I'm a Kodi noob. What kind of hardware do i need to get Kodi working if i was interested in that? I have a PS4 and Smart TV

PS4 won't let you side load kodi (atleast I don't think it will).
I'd recommend getting an Amazon fire tv or stick like stated above. Tv is quicker but $50 more than the stick.

Stick doesn't have 4k capabilities, correct? Just the Fire TV for that?

REGULAR Antenna = 20+ HD channels. Cord / Cut

Get a roku and sign up for Sling TV. Make sure you have good internet and you should be fine. Make sure you add the ESPN sports package to sling. It's only $5 extra. Also, get an over the air attic antenna for local channels.

Get the FireTV box, DO NOT get the stick. It's terrible for PS Vue. I can't stress that enough.
I cut the cord about 2 months ago, and I've been extremely happy. I have the top package for PS Vue ($75), and it's got everything I need. The only thing I miss is Root Sports SW for Astros games. That has been a fricking nightmare.
I've heard Apple TV also works very well with Vue.

Came in here to say this isn't cord cutting. This is mooching.
