A lot of posters on this site are really triggered by this monument stuff. I never understood why.
They are triggered but they are the same people who are afraid to go to Orleans Parish because they will be carjacked or murdered.

I don't mind seeing the monuments come down either.
Liberty Place needed to go and Beauregard should have stayed. I'm indifferent to the other two, other than not liking the way it was handled.

Uh after 2009, Drew could advocate putting a giant, wacky-waving, suction-style dildo on top of the superdome to greet tourists and I wouldn't give a mother frick

You know, I don't like to talk about politics a lot on this site; but I have to say that the OP's tantrum is not atypical in this country anymore.
We have to stop expecting everyone to have the same views as us.
Everytime you refer to someone you don't know as a "cuck" or "thug" or "xenophobe" or whatever, it just creates divides.
I mean, seriously, cuck?
What child decided that was descriptive for someone on the other side of the political spectrum?
If you identify so strongly with your political party that you take personal offense when others don't, you're not in a political party.
You're in a cult.

Not everything in this country has to be separated and labeled as Democrat and Republican.

He's being a politician. He's one of the major faces of the League, and the League has been good to him. Don't see the big deal here, he's just being positive about the situation.

"liberal" to him means that you disagree with him and you are a pathological capitalist, and probably a white supremacist.

Doesn't make someone a bad person because they don't share your opinion. My way or the highway with some folks. Just dumb.

I don't agree with Kaepernick's politics either but that's not the reason I don't want him on the Saints. I dont want him on the team for the simple reason that he sucks. The only way any offense can be successful With him running it is it has to be tailored around his specific skill set. With the exception of the Seahawks, I don't see any other offenses in the league that are even close.

I disagree. He had a 4 to 1 td to int ratio. His team was terrible. From the o line to the receivers. I feel he is better than McCown and Chase Daniels. However I don't think he wants a backup role.

He can have a threesome with George Soros and Mitch Landrieu on the 50 yard line and I still won't give a shite if he keeps putting up 5000 yard seasons.

Good take
I don't really get why people are triggered by pulling down a statue celebrating a guy who led an armed rebellion against the United States... maybe Chicago should erect a statue of Bill Ayers. Let's make treason great again!

I'm a libertarian conservative. I believe what other people think is none of my business or care. Just don't tell me how to think.

I realy did like that statue, but if it insulted people something should have been done.
I DO NOT agree with taking it down (particularly without a vote of the people). Perhaps there could have been things added to the base putting the whole man's life in context. An explanation of all his actions and a reminder to stay vigilant to avoid repeats of calls for insurrection.
But no, Mitch chose the easy way out and bullied his way to get what he wanted. Shame on Mitch and shame on all on both sides shouting down the vocal opposition. It is a lost opportunity for a dialogue.
