The other night at about 10pm my friend and I heard a screeching noise on Bayou Desiard that runs through Monroe. We went on top of a levee and tried to find it with lights but we couldn't. It sounded almost like a monkey screeching. Didn't know if it was a coon or a fox or some kind of bird but I had never heard that screeching sound before. I'm sure once I find out what it is I'll feel dumb but I'm just curious to know what it was.

No it wasn't a fox because it wasn't screaming. It was a monkey like screech that I heard

Blue Herons make a funny sound that sounds screechy and monkey-like. Example below

I'm sure it was a mating cry of some overweight woman having sex.

Look up Barn Owl sounds. That might be it. Or a screech owl.

I know the sound you're talking about. The first time I took my kid camping at Wax Lake he was about 4 and we were in our tent and he kept thinking it was monkeys.

I just assumed it was nutria or something.

Crawdaddy's friend does not think it is Bigfoot. Crawdaddy does, he's just in the closet about it.

Could have been a screech owl but i don't think it was. Sounded different and not as high of a pitch that an owl makes. Wasn't far from finks hideaway heard it on Old Sterlington
