No way he takes REL from Lee Circle. Over the past week, he has re-focused his efforts into making a play on the national stage

the liberty monument was tucked away behind a parking garage and i bet you couldn't have found 100 new orleanians who knew where it was or what it commemorated. fine.

jefferson davis certainly higher profile, certainly more well known and certainly a bigger fish. fine.

PGTB and REL monuments are different cloth altogether. it would not surprise me if mitch decides he's made his point (whatever in the hell it was) and takes this opportunity to bail out

If that's true... the judge who so quickly ruled last week against the Monumental Task Force needs to be impeached, thrown out, etc. It's hard to believe a worse error in judgement could have been made
This is a sickening mindset

The judge is a very respected, CONSERVATIVE, law abiding judge. He doesnt let his feeling get in the way of the law. If you look at the documents presented on May 10th, he had no choice but to dismiss.

But you want to penalize the judge because he followed the law instead of ruling on emotion?

you are just as bad as liberals who guide themselves with their emotion.

This doesn't help at all........The city will strong arm City Park bigly here.

Hmmm. So threats have already been made to City Park to effect removal and Judge Reese made a ruling clearly based on politics vs legal rights.

Also, I am not speaking in terms of who Judge Reese votes for. I am speaking in terms of how he interprets the law

Do you know something here? If the City does not own the statue then the City cant remove it without permission from City Park...which they clearly didn't have.

I have no clue who rightfully owns the statue. However, what was presented in court on May 10th in no way warranted Judge Reese to do anything in terms of stopping the city. Dismissing was the right thing to do from a legal perspective. I have spoken with many conservative Landrieu hating mother frickers, and they all agreed.

Ok, so what was the legal basis for his decision? We now know the City didn't have legal authority to proceed with removal.
