We have the opposite problem. They replaced the "pebble pit" with some fancy "safe" artificial surface and now kids are breaking arms on a regular basis when they fall off the monkey bars.

Public schools have discretionary immunity from personal injury lawsuits. So I doubt if fear of suit caused the monkey bars to be removed.

our "justice" system is fricked up. when you can sue anybody for any reason and not only be taken seriously, but stand a good chance of winning, you have no authentic justice. or system. that fricks up everything else

In 2nd grade I tripped over a tree trunk, fell onto a piece of glass and ended up with 6 stitches in my leg. Still have the scar. Sure glad they didn't dig up the tree because of my clumsy arse.

What the hell is wrong with people. Back when I was a kid, we didn't complain about an occasional broken arm. It was a badge of honor...
I think the problem is that kids today don't know how to climb...

Removing the monkey bars AFTER the fact isn't going to help the school in a suit brought by this kid. Maybe they'll avoid this in the future.

The new and OSHA approved playground for your kid's school will be ready by next week.

Been that way for a long time and it's not changing. I'm very surprised the school still had them.
Hotels did away with all diving boards for the most part 15-20 years ago. Our country club had to replace ours last year and they had to run it through the lawyers and get a small arse non springy one and even that took a lot of effort to make it actually happen.

Apparently in Japan they let kids do crazy shite during recess and if they get hurt they get hurt, no big deal. We need to bring back that mindset

We used to do wresting moves to each other off the monkey bars. Little kids are indestructible, if I did that shite now I would break half my body. Every grade has the kid that permanently has a broken bone

Should've been done 25 years ago. I always hated fricking monkey bars

That won't work. My kid's allergies are triggered by your field. Lawsuit.
I read an article about how the removal of monkey bars from playgrounds is a contributing factor to the decrease in the willingness of kids to try new things; test new ideas.
