Yet another round of layoffs in the local tech market. Lot's of good people out there blindsided today. Godspeed to all those guys now looking for work.

Whats going on with Sparkhound? I worked there a few years back and it was a great company to work for and on the rise.

I don't know, they were the bomb.com back in the day. Wish someone in the know could explain what happened.

Glad I didn't go work there a few years back.

If I'm not mistaken, they used to pay their employees 1099. Then they'd have them wear Sparkhound shirts, answer the phones and report to job sites as Sparkhound employees, etc.
If I'm recalling the same company correctly, they were misclassifying all of those workers and getting around paying their payroll taxes by doing that.

lots of retarded decisions made by management over there over the last several years

Aren't they dependent on contracts? Maybe they didn't get a couple recently

I know Geocent has done some reshuffling recently as well.
ETA: everyone keeps calling it the silicon bayou and tons of startups in the tech industry but I'm just not seeing it.

I've heard questionable decisions have been made there recently too.
Speaking of Sparkhound, didnt the founder suddenly leave several years back to do mission work?

They are no Initech although they also have too many TPS reports with the additional 27b Stroke 6 form.

Yes, one of the founders left for mission work or church related stuff.

Envoc is the new Envoc. Definitely not like Sparkhound.

Got any more details here....we are considering doing some work with Envoc on a custom solution where we are resource constrained in house.

Ya think!
That goes to show that sometimes even strategy executives aren't as smart as they think they are
