Yeah this is everyone's fault up there. Not Republicans or Democrats. Feel bad for the people of Flint, that really sucks.

Republican Emergency Managers took over the city and ran it when it made the water decision.

He said Michigan is run by GOP.
I said Flint is run by Dems.
Both are factual statements. Thanks

Read this sentence very carefully. Maybe more than once. I'm sure with some careful thought and introspection, you might be able to figure out what happened:
quote:
On March 25, 2013, the purchase of 16 million gallons per day from the KWA was approved by the Flint City Council.

This is insane honestly. We have Americans who cannot drink clean water in their daily life, a basic necessity. Yet, we will send $221 Million to Palestine. Stop sending money to other countries and take care of our damned citizens!
Pains me to agree with this, as much as I believe in humanitarian aid. This is unacceptable in America and the beaucrats, dem and rep, who are poisoning their own constitutes deserve to be jailed.
That being said, let's be honest. Those being affected are largely poorer and black. We rarely rush to their aid

No doubt something needs to be done, but it certainly points to how corrupt Flint officials are, and Michigan officials for not stepping in to correct this. It's a dangerous precedent to set to step in every time a local problem erupts. (I realize this is an extreme thing going on, but it should be handled at the local and state level.) Is there legal standing for Trump to get involved? I honestly don't know.
But that is why we have the federal govt. if the state/local govt repeatedly shows that it cannot conduct itself ethically, or is repeatedly harming AMERICANS, they should step in. Just like when the FEDS ran surveillance over the southern voting policies because the southern states be trusted to follow the voting rights act

the EM who ran Flint into the ground was a Democrat, bub

The special administrator was a lifetime democrat and member of the the naacp.

this guy?
Darnell Early is a Democrat. he was the EM when they transitioned
also, there is this
LINK
quote:
The mayor’s approval of the plan and the subsequent near unanimous vote by City Council were in no way coerced, forced or demanded by the state, nor any emergency manager. Council’s affirmative vote was supported and signed as an Executive Order by then-Emergency Manager Edward Kurtz on March 29, 2013. A subsequent order Kurtz signed on June 26, 2013, speaks specifically to “… upgrading of the Flint Water Plant to ready it to treat water from the Flint River to serve as the primary drinking water source for approximately two years and then converting to KWA delivered lake water.”
this was a decision made by the DEM city council and mayor that was rubber-stamped by the EM at the time
i cannot find any confirmation of Kurtz's political affiliation

Ed Kurtz, FYI, was the Republican-appointed emergency manager for Flint.
quote:
On April 16, Flint Emergency Manager Ed Kurtz tells the state treasurer that the city is going to join the KWA
you left this part out:

When you're asking "who switched Flint to the water that screwed them" the answer is clearly "the Republican-appointed EM", not "the Democrats".
except when you understand that the Democrat mayor and city council moved for this switch and THEN it was approved by the EM

that was associated with federal legislation
what federal legislation allows direct, federal oversight over municipal water acquisitions?

quote:you have to remember, we're in the South watching it unfold 1,000 miles away... i'm sure the people who are actually affected just want clean water
guess not. But for some reason this always has to be some one else's fault. I think an American town without drinking water is an American problem. Immediately you see "that's what you get with democrats" and "THANKS REPUBLICANTS". It's insane how no one can actually just be an adult and ignore politics for a second to help an issue. If the other person was in charge during the said problem, then instead of helping, we use that as material to run against that side for the next cycle. Just sick of it.
