How about you failed to support your argument with any facts, period.
Saintsfan's list pretty much shut this down.
You are reaching, citing unrelated year's stats to last year. Which still didnt even support your argument.
What you fail to realize, is what BilJ and pretty much everyone else on here is saying. Which is that Lattimore was the obvious pick, at no. 11, and were lucky to get him over a 2nd tier DE.
Nobody said they would pick Lattimore over Garret or Thomas dumbass.
Go sit down, everyone on here is killing you with actual facts.

I actually would pick Lattimore over them, but that more to do with my belief that they are a bit overrated (but still very good), whereas I think Lattimore can be a true shutdown corner.
I don't think this draft had any elite pass rusher, but it did have two elite secondary players in Adams and Lattimore.
I also don't believe Barnett is really a step down over Garrett and Thomas. I think all 3 can be very good if they reach their potential. I don't think any will be elite.

Mike Nolan can coach LBs
Aaron Glenn is former NFL Pro Bowl CB. He can coach the secondary
The rookie NFL coach, Ryan Nielsen, will bring new blood to the DLine
Dennis Allen? I could see where you are hesitant due to the coaching carousels at DC, but the above coaches bring more optimism than previous years.

I give Garret the benefit of the doubt in part because Chavis' scheme is really not all that favorable to pass rushers like him, he doesn't give them much help at all. Still....he does strike me as a bit soft, we'll see.
Adams probably has the lowest bust potential of the guys listed, has the athletic profile and has proved it on the field.
We've discussed the hammies on Lattimore enough and that's really his biggest knock, but this misnomer is that they continue to plague him. Not the longest track record but definitely brought it last season, enough to establish himself as the best CB in a very deep class.

Garrett and Thomas are elite for their positions. So is Lattimore. I would take Lattimore over Thomas, but Myles Garret is a Peppers clone, hard to pass on. There's a reason he was consensus no.1 by all draft experts.

Lattimore is big but not big like Peterson. Pat was 220 coming out of college, no corner is big like him. And the combine numbers he put up at that size are insane and incomparable. I'm pretty sure he was the top overall guy on Mel Kipers board in that draft.

Pat Peterson is heavier. Otherwise they're extremely comparable. Almost identical actually. Same frame, and athletic profile.
Revis had a close comparable but is shorter and not as long armwise. Vontae davis only ran 4.49. Claiborne went no.6 and only ran a 4.5.
Jalen ramsey only ran 4.41 and went no. 5.
Joe haden went no. 7 and ran a 4.52.
Antrel rolle went no 8 and ran 4.5
Not many have elite/above average size and speed. Pat Peterson and Lattimore both do.
Antonio cromartie and Stephone Gilmore are closer in comparison, but were a step slower at 4.38

Which means we get Mahomes and the board melts.
KC saved a lot of people's sanity around here.
Also explains why we refused to move back. Potential lock down CB or future franchise QB with one pick in front. We're happy if either falls and a trade wouldn't be worth it.

Lol hahaha. Man we were so lucky. Bills definitely wouldve took Lattimore
Posted in another thread about our draft, per Pff:

Lattimore is a perfect combination of size and speed and he plays with great technique that allowed him to surrender a passer rating of only 30.2 into his coverage, fourth-best in the nation.

I think this is more related to our screw ups in the past with drafting...and with this FO who could blame them. I truly believe this was the only level headed decision to make. If Lattimore pans out to his hype he can cut the playing field in half where a QB can throw.

Oh yeah, like slow said the things that had to break our way for that to happen was pretty insane. Seriously show me one draftnik that had John Ross in their top 10 or even 3 WRs going that high.
I do however wonder if our interest in Mahomes was completely genuine, it was just so public and not very SP like. No one will believe your smoke screens if you come out the next day and say no we weren't really that big on him after all. But maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

IMO that weight difference puts Peterson in a freak class by himself. He ran a faster 40 weighing 27 pounds more. And those 3 cone and shuttle times are ridiculous at that size.
40 YARD DASH: 4.34 SEC
BENCH PRESS: 15 REPS
VERTICAL JUMP: 38.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 126.0 INCH
3 CONE DRILL: 6.58 SEC
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.07 SEC
60 YARD SHUTTLE: 11.01 SEC

Your missing the point dude. Lattimore is a freak just like Pat Pete. True he is not as heavy, but none of the other people I listed fit their profile for size and speed.
See above re: prefect combo of size and speed.

Addsd reference. Janoris Jenkins is a top paid corner, ran 4.46 with only 33 inch vertical

I think the majority are hopeful and hoping for the best, but at the same time, fully expecting to find out like in the past, that our star player we invest in (in this case lattimore) may get hurt all the time and cant play. this is the mindset of why people are very reserved in their optimism until such a time as he actually can stay healthy all season.
it is our past history taking players with talent but cant stay healthy that cause a "well lets wait and see if he stays healthy" attitude before we believe the hype about their skill because talent means nothing if you are always hurt.
the truth is, most of you guys are too easily dismissing the injury concerns because you only want to focus on the talent side, in reality, there is no way any of us can know if he will be fine and can stay healthy all year or if he will constantly be in rehab.
as fans we all love our saints and hope everything they did gets great returns with no busts but only time will tell.
a truly objective person "should" have trepidation about his injury history and not be so dismissive of it until such a time as he shows he can go a full NFL season without issues
