So political protesting is only ok when it is in line with your beliefs?

And I don't believe them
I hope your house burns down while the firefighters are busy taking down statues

And I don't consider this civic tradition a waste....it's as American as 1776. Protesting is in our flags fabric. 1st amendment
Protesting is a civic tradition.....not rioting, looting and destroying property. Everybody hopes it stays peaceful, but recent history suggests otherwise when these verdicts or investigation results don't come down the way protesters want

They better get to work the minute after jazz fest is over. These tax dollars don't go to them just to sit on their asses
If the thickness of irony could be measured, this statement would break some kind of record.

You win. I'm going to go do something with my Sunday that doesn't upset me and make me want to cry...and yes I'm a female. An old female. I give up on any hope that anything but bad is able to come from this. You spend a great deal of time just waiting to see something on here that will give you the opportunity to try to get people banned. Yet you aren't banned. I give up. The place that I call home is falling apart and none of it makes sense.

Looks like the fire chief was trying to score brownie points with the freaks/liberals.
Fire him.
Fire him.

I have to agree with this...I think the minute you start mixing politics or religion into your job, you are treading on dangerous ground.

So they are just supposed to be ok with being used as political pawns?

You're not worthy of any other response but here's one anyways.
I'd rather my tax dollars go to firefighters (actual heros) protesting rather than me having to pay to prop up the scum you support so they can sit on their asses all day and sell dope, protest and/or bitch about how it's other people's fault they can't make it out of their struggling situations.

that is not at all what I said. your job should never dictate your personal opinion on anything.
however, when you call for your boss to be fired for carrying out something that he was forced to implement, then you certainly should not be surprised if your job becomes a little more difficult in the future.

Pathetic. Don't waste my tax dollars protesting, get to work and obey you freaking orders
GTFO. Their orders are to save lives. They are not construction workers and it is not in the job scope to take down statues.
If your community wants those statues down bad enough they'll gather the money up amongst themselves and pay professionals to do it. I don't want MY tax dollars being spent on fixing butt hurt feelings.

Rioting and looting is pretty American too
False. Looting and rioting IS in our nations fabric.
Burning of Norfolk

Burning of Norfolk
quote:
The Whig militia resisted the landing parties, but did little to stop the flames, which were spread by advantageous winds. Some Loyalist properties were targeted for burning and looting by the Whigs shortly after the bombardment began, including a local distillery.[16] Although the British ended their operations that day, the fires continued to rage; the next morning Colonel Howe reported that "the whole town will I doubt not be consum'd in a day or two."[16] The burning and looting by the occupying Whigs continued for three days. By the time order was restored, much of the town had been destroyed.[14]

Why do you hate white people?

Where's fiancé that is is dumb.. "divisive" so you just keep it up?
Yeah that's smart...just to appease those that rather do wrong to piss the majority of the city other than do the right thing.
The statues had been up for decades and nobody was offended. It's a very recent and overblown phenomenon. It's merely a conjured political battle started by a failed mayor.
quote:
There is no good moral argument to keep those statues up.
There is no argument to take them down either unless one is stupid enough to believe that statues that none of the current opponents cared about three years ago are suddenly harming those opppnents by their existence. There are none that have been harmed by them.
BTW, I'm no fan of the confederacy and view flying the battle flag as an embarrassment.
