Chantix or Generic?

Going Tuesday to Doctor for a script to stop smoking. Anyone have any insight on what I can expect. Success rate, good or bad experiences. TIA

Good for you, best of luck
I'm having a hard time deciding what's more trashy, neck tats or cigs.

Remove all guns and knives, rope, and shoe strings from your house and shower instead of using a tub....

Be sure to address the behavioral components of your smoking as well. Changing the habits that surround your smoking behaviors are often the hardest part of quitting.

Exactly how I quit. Totally doable without prescriptions.

Chantix or Generic?
I doubt there is a generic for Chantix, didn't it recently come on the market?

I used chantix to quit. It's isn't cheap so expect around $140 depending on insurance. It does work but you have to want to quit. As far as side effects I had more vivid dreams. I also only needed it for a month. You're mileage may vary. You may also consider a nerve pill as quitting smoking definitely makes one highly irritable.

Bubroporin is the generic. Checked with Cigna, think 1 month scrip of Chantix would only cost me around $9 a month

Bupropion is the generic
This is wrong. Chantix has no generic yet .
Bupropion is generic Wellbutrin/ Zyban and can also be used for smoking cessation

I used it a few years back and it helped a lot. First few days I was a bit lethargic but that went away. Been a non-smoker ever since!

No generic available. I had great success years ago with chantix. Quit in 6 weeks with no real side effects. Smoke free almost 10 years.
However, a family member had to give up taking it due to crazy mood swings. If you don't live with someone, have family and friends monitor you for any strange behavior. Sometimes it's easier for them to see it than yourself.

I took Chantix a few years ago. I don't think they have a generic yet. It's a bit expensive but when you compare it to the cost of smoking it easily pays for itself quickly. It worked great and I didn't experience any side effects. It made cigarettes taste like black licorice to me after a few days which I found odd. I absolutely hate black licorice. Either way, I haven't smoked a cigarette in 2 years. I still smoke the occasional cigar with a good bourbon but that's not the same thing IMO.

I started chantix two weeks ago. If you know how it works you're supposed to pick a day to stop smoking and start taking the medicine 7 days before that. My quit day was this past Monday. I smoked one Monday morning before work and haven't smoked one since. I'm pumped about it.
Only side effect I've had is restlessness at night. I haven't slept all the way through the night since taking it. But I can deal with that if it means quit smoking.
Also, chantix is free with my insurance. There's a chantix coupon that you can print out that saves you a lot if you don't have good insurance. Just go to the chantix website and register.

There is not generic. You can however get it from Canada and I believe it's called Chantic sp?. It is a little cheaper.
I've tried both twice without any luck.
I'm currently taking Wellbutrin and I'm going on 2 months feeling great and never think of cigarettes anymore. It does have a generic as someone previously mentioned.
eta the only side effect I had with Chantix is severe nausea for about 30 minutes after taking the pill.

This.
I smoked from the time I was 16. I quit once for about 7 months in 1997 after an angioplasty but started again. I tried Chantix in 2007 and quit for a number of months, but started again in a stress filed situation.
About a year ago I started changing habits. I didn't smoke in my place; I didn't smoke when I got into my car; I didn't smoke after winning a motion or a trial. The hardest was not smoking on the golf course. I smoked my last cigarette, to date, on the golf course on July 2, 2016, at the age of 64. I have had the occasional cigar on the golf course, but have played a number of rounds smoke free. I don't want the occasional cigar to lead me back to smoking cigarettes again.
Good luck to all who are trying to quit.

Chantix doesn't have a generic
Your dr can probably give you the info packet /starter pack that has a coupon on it
It will still be expensive
It works, I stayed nauseated while on it
You have to take it the full 3-4 months after you quit or it's way too easy to start back
