The Federal Communications Commission is cracking open the net neutrality debate again with a proposal to undo the 2015 rules that implemented net neutrality with Title II classification.

quote:

His proposal will reclassify internet providers as Title I information services, end rules that allow the commission to evolve the rules to fit future practices, and open questions about what to do with the key no blocking and throttling rules that were implemented in 2015.

quote:

The Internet Association, a group that represents more than 40 top internet companies, including Google, Facebook, and Netflix, said there was no reason to change the rules. “The current FCC net neutrality rules are working and these consumer protections should not be changed,” said the group’s CEO, Michael Beckerman. “Consumers pay for access to the entire internet free from blocking, throttling, or paid prioritization.”

And so it begins. This is why you should always look a Trojan horse in the mouth.

If you thought people got pissed over government fricking with their healthcare, wait until you see people get pissed when government fricks with their entertainment.

Donald Trump is stepping into a minefield if he really does go after Net Neutrality and he will deserve the backlash for it.

We are about to pay a lot more for internet access including fast and slow lanes to third party internet companies like Netflix and Hulu.

You better hope you have competition in your area to at least have a chance.

Victory for the lobbyist.

Good. Another step towards moving things back under the FTC. I've never understand the love affair that so many have with the Obama admin regs that moved ISP under the FCC. Please tell me of one time that heaping layers and layers of new regs on an industry worked out for the good of the consumer in the end. Anyone that claims to be conservative or libertarian should fully support these moves by the Trump admin.

shite like this is why, although I have my issues with the Democrats, I still look across the aisle and see a party and an ideology I just cannot support.
