If you can tolerate boxed wine and have a like for video games, then you can't beat it.

Actually you are dead on..

That was the problem in a nutshell. This guy came in and closed one project and even after he wasn't able to close on other small projects, they took his word as gold.

Either he was over-confident or he just blew smoke up their asses so they wouldn't get rid of him. He supposedly had "strong connections" at a certain place. That was part of they hype around him and not one time did he deliver from that place.

Yes I did, but they post about 4 million dollars in sales a year with a endowment of 15 million... so they feel untouchable and think they can turn it around. Meanwhile 15 years ago they made 25 million a year, 8 years ago they made 10 million a year...

I left the company and changed my career after that crap

P.S: nonprofit, so no unemployment if they go under

I was at a job the IRS shut down during my shift. People came in and just started confiscating everything in the place. I was just doing telemarketing work for them.

I couldn't have been happier, really. Horrible job.

That deal was also probably set up proper for him before he even came on board to build his confidence

I worked for a company that went belly up shortly after the Lehman collapse, so yeah.

Different scenario than what you might be describing. Both us and our competitors were struggling. Our clients couldn't pay us. We couldn't find new work. Every Friday, the phone list shrank by another 10-12 people and I knew my time was coming.

They were expecting to get several big projects and the managers were telling everyone "it is about to start getting really busy soon, we have a lot of work coming in" instead of "we bid on several big projects and if we get them all then we will be really busy, but that's if we get them all". They ended up getting zero of the projects they bid on and they laid off people before anyone had time to jump ship.

I went through something like this. Were being told to hire people, so we did and were in process of doubling the size of out team to about 40 people.

Then we had a surprise conference call to tell all of us that we were done.

Most of my people found a job within the company.

I said f it and left. It was a shitty way to treat us. Had a spot within the company and turned it down.

Peaced and have been happier ever since. Even get to drink beer on the clock with the owners of the new company.

Three times, I was a member of management for my department every time. Laid off three times watching the doors close. One telecommunications company and two machine shops.

Get out. Loyalty is a buzzword companies want you to believe in. Speaking from experience, its bullshite.

Over the past 5 or so months, our department has been picking up slack for other departments, in other words doing the same job as other department employees are doing, along with our own normal duties, but without the pay increase.

Tomorrow, they're going to be training us on a software to give us full access to what the other departments have....once again, for the same exact pay.

It sux. I feel like we're getting pimped.

Yep. Shipping and holding company.

Pool hall buddy got promoted to GM and asked me to come work because everything was so screwed with inventory, computer system, and warehouse and they were afraid of losing a contract with British Petroleum. This was a family run company where the family was running it into the ground.

I start and within 3 months I had everything fixed that was screwed up, smoothed things over with BP higher ups, and saved their asses. As soon as a routine was established and everything was on the up and up, bam termination letter dropped on my desk. No thank you, no nothing.

My buddy was fired the next week.

Company is now out of business

Yep. Yes the last 6 months I was there to build a great portfolio. Then got the heck out of there before the bottom fell out.
