as we wait the start of the outbreak...
can we talk about the tornado that saved America?
War of 1812... British forces had just occupied Washington D.C. the day before... fires (including the White House and Capitol) were still burning
suddenly...

26 hours after the occupation of D.C. began... it ended... thanks in part to the tornado
President Madison returned 2 days later.

The clouds began to swirl and the winds kicked up. A tornado formed in the center of the city and headed straight for the British on Capitol Hill. The twister ripped buildings from their foundations and trees up by the roots. British cannons were tossed around by the winds. Several British troops were killed by falling structures and flying debris.

Even back then the federal govt was controlling the weather.

I have some family that just closed on a house outside of Tulsa. Hopefully their house has a shelter just in case.

WTH should I believe you can possibly predict 7 days from today? you people can't forecast tomorrow unless a high pressure system moves in today. Then, at best, you're half right on your predictions.

I think most of the weather forecasters who post will acknowledge that 5-7 days forecasting has some reliability issues. There is, however, a better way of stating your criticism.

The folks at US Tornadoes have chimed in and are setting the high end at 80ish tornadoes for the week but with overall low confidence in the forecast.
