Frozen pizza prices have exponentially increased during the past couple of years

What's behind this? Is it traditional economics of supply and demand or a combination of that with increased cost of production?
Digiorno is closely approaching $10 a box as is the California Pizza Kitchen brand. Tombstone is a little cheaper at 7 dollars or so. What's the endgame for these frozen pizza brands when a takeout from Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Domino's are basically neck and neck with pricing?

California Pizza Kitchen pizzas are $4.99 where I live.

Fresh Market has fresh pizza for 7.99-9.99
I haven't seen frozen pizza in the store in years. Never walk near any of that stuff.

Totinos is the GOAT but i havent had one sober in over a decade
Why the F would i pay $10 for a cardboard bland frozen pizza when i can have one delivered fresh within 30 minutes for the same price?

Exactly. These prices are insane for something frozen. Heck, even Papa Murphy's was cheaper than this frozen stuff.

Exactly. I forgot about the little ceasars deal. Good example.

Get some pizza dough balls from Sam's and make your own pizza. Tastes better and way cheaper.

Maybe they're just cashing in on fat impulse buyers. They walk past that aisle and can't say no.

HEB actually calculates the price per ounce next to the real price.
IMO nearly all frozen pizzas are garbage, but $0.20/oz is pretty cheap.

red barron is typically around 3-4 bucks per. the only digiorno's that gets up to 10 near me is the stuffed crust. the rest are 6-7.
by the time you order a large pizza or whatever from any of those places you mentioned, it's going to end up taking 45 minutes to get delivered and cost $15 or more with delivery, tax, and tip.

Agreed about delivery, but plenty of the national chains have takeout deals that are cheaper than $10.

I like the crunchy crust of Red Baron and tombstone. More so than MOST of the shitty delivery places.
So I guess I'm driving the market.

Pretty much every decent grocery store has their own take and bake pizza for $5-6 in addition to plenty of frozen brands in that range. Not sure who's paying $10 for that.

You can't get a take out pizza when you're drunk and/or high in the middle of the night or early morning. Plus 20-25 minutes heating up a pizza is easier than getting into your car and driving to keep the costs comparable.

I still love Jack's Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza, but their crust has seemed flaky lately. Wife buys Aldi's frozen thin crust and it's really good.

Weird I think they're really cheap. Always enticing me with their prices.
