Are you serious in thinking we are the lone superpower? Mutually assured destruction aside, do you think we wouldn't have our hands completely full in a fight with Russia, China, Japan, Germany, or even maybe Saudi Arabia?

Take either of the first two out and we would crush them all at the same time, include them all together and it would be a stalemate.

You have no freaking clue what you are rambling about.

Why do your think we did it? And, before you say oil, check and see how much oil we get from Syria

One storyy that has been circulating is the desire for a Saudi/ME pipeline to compete with the Russian pipeline into Europe. The story is Syria is denying a direct route through Syria because they are allied with Russia. I have no clue if this story has merit.

I actually think Trump does care and thinks he can be the savior to everyone. He just doesn't realize that it's not really up to him.

Do you also believe that Santa Claus will slide down your chimney this Christmas?

So the fact that America is becoming a Fascist state is the fault of those pointing it out to you. Interesting logic some of you have.

It shouldn't, but that's what happens when you have a system so corrupt it must use the full force of its military to maintain it.

I guess because only 70% of its tax revenues go to entitlements, our government does care about its people. If the government doesn't care about its people, have it give me my hard-earned money back and let those people that it doesn't care about starve.

Politicians don't give away their own money, plus, the taxpayer money they do give away is more about staying in power than helping the less fortunate.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. Are you trying to say that government stealing money from its citizens proves it cares about them? Is that the point you're trying to make?

Pretty sad to see people who prefer to run down American instead of supporting it. I guess that is what people this is hip these days. Smart arse comment does not equal intellectualism despite what the Colbert Reprt has taught most of you.

iterally, NO ONE is saying that.... what many are saying is that we need to take care of home first, stop putting ourselves in other people's shite at damn near EVERY opportunity, and start actually leading in a much more diplomatic way....

ok come on now.

take care of home first? how about Trump imposing an importation ban from countries that do not vet their citizens well? The boarder wall with Mexico is being drawn up as well. These WERE the first things he did in office to take care of America first. Stop letting people into the country that wants to see America destroyed.

stop putting ourselves in other people's shite? I agree to an extent but there is a HUGE line that was crossed. if you see a man punching a row of babies in the face in a hospital nursery are you the person thats going to say "woah not getting in the middle of that"

for the record, yes it would have been better for Trump to go through Congress but I understand why he did not. there needed to be a swift response that America will not tolerate the use of chemical weapons regardless of who is responsible. if there are no consequences, what deters anyone (Syria, Iran, N Korea, etc) from using them?

leading more diplomatically is exactly Trump's approach is now. He is going through Congress and the UN trying to remove Assad peacefully. Trump doesn't want to start a war. But because of Trump's actions in Syria, other world leaders will have to respect any diplomat representing America.

Obviously i am not saying we should drop tomahawk missiles every time someone steps out of line but I think it just sends a message that the US stands up for the oppressed

domestic terrorism far exceeds the casualty count vs. foreign born US terrorist strikes, 9/11 withstanding....

quote:

take care of home first?

yes.... feed the hungry, help close the income equality gap that is getting way out of hand, shuttle more money towards education rather than more money for "defense".... utilize our funds in a more sane way, rather than just trying to intimidate the world, wagging our "big dick" around... it's sophomoric, and unnecessary...

quote:

I agree to an extent but there is a HUGE line that was crossed

what about the lines crossed in Saudi Arabia? what about Darfur? we didn't intervene there.... what about Tibet? never set foot there in their conflict with China...

quote:

if you see a man punching a row of babies in the face in a hospital nursery are you the person thats going to say "woah not getting in the middle of that"

i'd see to that it's handled apropos.... i'm not going to shoot him in retaliation to punching babies... through the correct channels is how it should be handled...

it would have been better for Trump to go through Congress but

go through Congress but

but

there's always a "but" when it comes to Trump... always...

quote:

I understand why he did not.
again, had it been the previous guy, i can say with 100% certainty, there wouldn't be any understanding displayed...

quote:

there needed to be a swift response that America will not tolerate the use of chemical weapons regardless of who is responsible.
both China and Russia have had documented use of chemical agents on civilians... don't remember attacking them....

quote:

if there are no consequences, what deters anyone (Syria, Iran, N Korea, etc) from using them?
i'm not saying there shouldn't be consequences, i'm saying go through the correct route... don't be some false renegade, just trying to appease the base, while pissing off allies in the region that our armed services members presently are... that's fricking stupid...

quote:

leading more diplomatically is exactly Trump's approach is now.

yeah, dropping bombs on them without any sort of discussion with Congressional approval or oversight is awfully diplomatic of him....

quote:

Trump doesn't want to start a war.
he may not want to, but if he doesn't get his head out of his arse, he may end up doing exactly that....

quote:

But because of Trump's actions in Syria, other world leaders will have to respect any diplomat representing America.
Trump is a fricking laughing stock... just this past week, i had the pleasure of visiting Legoland and Disneyland in S. Cali.... talked to quite a few foreigners that think the US is fricking retarded and irresponsible for electing Trump and the circus that surrounds him...

respect? he's gotta EARN that, and dropping bombs on a sovereign nation doesn't help that very much....

quote:

the US stands up for the oppressed

so why don't we stand up for the oppressed here IN the US? gotta admit, there's plenty of issues here on American soil that need to be worked on, so why go put our nose in Syria's business right now? we aren't exactly where we need to be as a nation, yet we gonna play world police again, at the expense of our tax revenue and servicemen and women's lives? boots WILL be on the ground in Syria shortly, and there's no reason to think otherwise... Trump goes with the flow and McMaster along with high ranking Republicans WANT a war... he'll cave and give it to them... watch...
