Yes, but I would never let an so use a debit/credit card unless I supervised it, and that is not the case here.

I don't know why people carry a debit card. Just use a credit card and you would never have that problem

Some people don't have the credit rating or history to get a credit card. They should use prepaid VISA cards for large purchases to avoid situations like this.

this is good advice. carry 2 credit cards and an ATM card (no debit feature) on it.
A while back I noticed my bank account with some weird transactions, all over $200 each. Called the bank, we figured out all of the transactions I was certain I did not make, they said we're taking care of it right now, you don't need to worry. And that was that.
Maybe I was lucky, I just assumed that's kinda how it goes each time.

They gave me temporary credits which are still under review. The problem is I don't feel comfortable spending a large amount of money like 1k right now because I have 1k in temporary credits. Im not sure they will be awarded back to me, and I am very frustrated about this whole process.

Exactly how in the frick you know this person?
Typically CC/DC Theft is done in full anon. You can maybe track down the person, but how in the frick do you have their number?
This sounds fishy as frick.

Two months sounds about right, I only got my money back when I threatened to move all my accounts. Similar happened to me, they purchased things online. Only thing I use my debt card for is to get cash occasionally from the ATM. Take action or they will drag their feet.

So i know the sweet lady who used my debit card without my premssion to the tune of over 900 dollars. Filed fraud charges with the bank and it has almost been two months and everything is still being reviewed by the bank. I also filed a police report filled with text messages of sweet lady admitting her guilt, and submitted that to the bank. Crickets on the entire issue since the beginning of february. Now, said sweet lady is on probation for theft, and I know her probation officer. Should I speed up this process by just turning the police report over to the probation officer? Or continue to wait and let the bank/police handle it on their own?
When I had someone get about 300 off my debit card a few years ago I went through Visa and they had my money back within a couple weeks. i never bothered the bank.

I knew a girl who had this done to her by a boyfriend. He racked up over $20,000.00 worth of charges using her credit card and debit card. He was caught on video and admitted to it afterwards. His name was given to the cops and the financial institutions and nothing happened to the pos. They(cops and banks) didn't press charges. Nothing happened to him. She got her money back and he got $20,000.00 worth of shite with no repurcussions. Don't be surprised if nothing happens. I'd say if you want her in trouble , you're only option is reporting it to her probation officer and I'm not sure that will work if she isn't charged with a crime

Some a-hole stole my debit card number somehow and used it in Illinois at a redbox for the tune of $3.17. I called chase and Habeeb, I mean John, got me the money back that night and cancelled the card. frick thieves.

Right about now wouldn't it be nice to have the credit card company missing money instead of your bank account?
This. My mom (no pics) had this happen to her a few months ago. I told her that's why I always use a credit card for purchases. If it gets compromised you're not immediately out that money, and they're generally more helpful in these cases. If this happens with a debit card you're already out the money and then have to worry about getting it back.

So the consensus is I will probably get my money back, and going to the probation officer is probably no good? It's just crazy to me that I could take someone I knows debit card info, spend it on a bunch of nonsense and face no repercussions as long as the person gets his money back through the bank. Just seems all very strange to me.

As soon as it gets resolved, jettison the bank down the road. I have a debit card with Fidelity and had a similar situation and it was resolved in 2 weeks. Also the debit pays all charges for all machines with reimbursement to account. Only this they don't do that a bank does is accept of deliver cash across counter.

My bank is chase. They said if will be resolved by may 16th. I want justice, this woman is bragging about this, and already a convicted thief.
