Would the WBC be more interesting if the United States played by state instead

Especially if Puerto Rico becomes the 51st state in June because they will still want to have their own team
I believe if the WBC was played with the US splitting all 50 states up this event would really take off because I believe college sports thrives on this passion because the more and more you break us up regionally, state, regions of the state, city and finally neighborhood the more pride someone has

Some states would be terrible. You could do Texas, California and probably Florida on their own. But the rest would probably have to be done by region.

They have a voting referendum in June on their ballot and from the numbers I have seen they will become the 51st state

probably Florida
I feel an interesting thread topic coming on..

I doubt that
Who will Florida have

This was the 1st time the US has ever won the WBC yet you want to make it more difficult for the sake of interest?
This was the most watched and most interesting WBC we've ever had

Isn't this basically what college baseball is?

I would think California
But it is weird that most American born pitchers in MLB are from "non traditional" baseball states.

Lol trying to get MLB players playing in it. Most states wouldn't have MLB players on them.

No because college baseball doesn't always get the best players as half of the league came straight out of high school

Maybe make it more of a challenge as the US can show that our individual states can beat Japan, DR and Venezuela

Rizzo Sale Machado (though he didn't play for the US in the WBC) off the top of my head
California Texas and Florida would have the three deepest pools of talent to pull from in that order I think but I haven't looked at it

That is incorrect now.
Go look at the rosters and most of the American players did go to college or Juco.

Florida would have deGrom and Greinke as well

You can use the U.K. for an example in international soccer
The U.K. Doesn't play as a country
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own teams

Florida might be above TX honestly. Just thinking off the top of my head I don't think a TX lineup would be that great. You would have Kershaw and Thor atop the rotation though
