What do you mean by most

What is the percentage of players who played college baseball with American born players or are you just talking out of your arse

This is the dumbest idea I've seen in here in a while. And, no, PR is no where close to becoming a state. They can vote all they like to become one but the current 50 states have to allow them in. You think a gov controlled by republicans is going to let a poor liberal controlled island in?

Also Matt Carpenter. Maybe I'm wrong. It's hard to find lists of guys where they played HS ball, I know Goldschmidt and Taillon were born in Delaware and Florida but both grew up in TX

Texas would have if I am correct

Bucholtz
Bourne
Carpenter
Crawford
Davis
Freese
Gattis
Girchuk
Kazmir
Kershaw
Shelby Miller
Syndegaard

That starting Texas staff would be tough to hit off of.

As someone else said, the US just won it for the first time. It isn't like we have historically crushed all other teams and we need to break it up to be fair. And it isn't like all MLB players are just dying to participate and we need more teams to accommodate them.

If, for the sake of argument you wanted to break it up, it would be far more sensible to break it into a handful of regions (four or five) than into fifty different teams.

I doubt that if PR approves the referendum that Congress will deny their petition

No matter who controls the Congress

Yeah, I'm failing to see how breaking one team into fifty teams is going to increase popularity.

They have a voting referendum in June on their ballot and from the numbers I have seen they will become the 51st state

We don't have to take them.

They are already part of the United States

If they no longer want self government the United States has to allow them to become a state

You're being serious? You actually think we're about to add PR as a state in the near future? If so you're a bigger idiot than I thought. There is zero chance PR is becomes a state as long as congress is controlled by the republicans. I doubt many dems would vote to bring them in. PR is not going to be a state for the forseeable future and any argument o the contrary is retarded.

They are a territory of the US we already pay their way but the US allows them self government because that is what they wanted

If they no longer want to control their own island the US has no other choice but to allow them to become a state

Do you have any support for this?

Stupid
The timing of the WBC is bad, pitchers are not in shape yet and with the limits and pitch counts it's not real baseball.

Some sportswriter wrote about doing it during All Star break but then MLB teams don't want their top players busting it in the middle of the season.

Maybe after the World Series you could schedule it but then you would have players that would not want to give up their off season.

If done right it could be awesome because I watched more WBC this year than I ever have and it was intense baseball.

Support for what

Google June Puerto Rico statehood.
There always has been 3 different groups of people
In PR. People who wanted statehood, people who wanted status quo and finally people who wanted full independence

People who wanted full independence have disappeared so it is mainly people who want to remain a territory and people who want statehood

Once they pass the referendum and create a state constitution then Congress will be petitioned and because the United States cannot look racist to Latinos will have to accept their statehood especially considering that we have controlled the island for almost 100 years
