I'm not blaming the refs, but this egregious miss killed the chance for exciting ending

That's a missed call. He was touching the ball, hand out of bounds. Gonzaga ball, period.
Might not have changed outcome, would have changed ending sequence.

It is impossible to miss unless you did so intentionally. No other way to spin it.
ETA: What could that ref possibly be watching where he missed that hand? He was the one who called the tie-up, so how did he miss the hand right there?

It wouldn't have mattered if karnowski could make a layup. Gonzaga has no one to blame but themselves

UNC benefited from calls all tourney so it doesn't surprise me that the official didn't call that. With that said, Gonzaga had so many chances and just decided they didn't want to win.

It was a terrible game. I can only hope that it was bad enough where actual legit changes will be made going forward.
I wouldn't hate seeing the games structured similarly to what they did in the NIT this year. They also desperately need to clean up loose ball / off ball fouls. Let them play.

I don't blame refs for split second calls like that TBH. I did feel like the odd nature they called fouls led to Gonzaga big men being in foul trouble very early, but the pace of the game was set because when Gonzaga was playing it's best their momentum was halted by somewhat obscure foul calls in an inconsistently called game.

In fairness to that ref, he was a full 5-10 feet away...and his service dog wasn't handy.

The refs were terrible; Gonzaga played like pure shite to open the 2nd half; UNC couldn't throw it in the ocean until late in the game and finally played good D in the 2nd half.
It was a shitty game to watch with no flow especially when the refs got whistle happy in the early to mid part of the 2nd half. It was just a disjointed game all around. It was entertaining for the last 5 until the last 11 seconds. It was college basketball ball played by two teams with no transcendent talent.

What about the airball, that gonzaga got back because they said UNC tipped it out of bounds? They got the ball back, made a 3 and took lead. What about that shite call?

I didn't give a shite who won, but that was a horrendous game to watch. I've watched horrible officiating all year in Auburn games. This again reminded of why CBB sucks compared to the NBA.
