We've gone down that road several times in the past in my family. Last time we did it the dog had distemper and died. and then we had to keep the other pets out of the house for over month. but yes, i'm an a-hole i guess

There's nothing wrong with getting a specific purebred. Different breeds have different needs, temperaments, and health issues. With a purebred you have a better idea of what kind of dog you're dealing with, especially since you can see the bitch and sire.

Maybe so, but not because of this.
Still, you shouldn't get a dog.

So you bought a sick dog from a shite hole and that's that?
Whenever people say adopt, the don't mean go to the pound and find the nasty, skinny, poorly treated dogs. It just means find the dogs don't have a home. There are adoption puppies everywhere. Even if you want a specific breed, like a bitch arse pug, there are pug rescues everywhere.
