Taking a life is not an easy thing. This kid may require counselling. The home requires some extensive cleaning and repairs now.

The burglar's estates should be turned over to the victims to cover costs.

Coulda got then all 3 with 1 bullet if he had a 1911 though

Certainly sounds like something the 1911 fanatics would say

The 1911/.45ACP myths are getting old an tiring.

It seems a little odd but unless the cops find evidence that the shooter asked the people over or baited them somehow, it's gonna be a clean shoot.

Intermediate rifle cartridges are great for home defense. Easier to shoot than handguns and extremely lethal without over-penetration of walls. Best tools for home defense imo.

But is the shooter now blind and deaf from shooting that 5.56 in a closed space?

That's my main concern with using AR in the house. Is my concern overblown?

Yes. Assuming you don't have an obnoxious muzzle brake, shooting an AR in a house will not cause you to go blind or deaf.

I hope the investigation proves it to being a clean shoot.

The exchange of words phrase sort of raises red flags.. However in my CWP class one of the things our instructor preached was during a home invasion, especially in a scenario where they were trying to break in, be very loud and vocal about your intent to stop them with deadly force if they do not stop.

Said this was especially important if you had neighbors or witnesses who cold hear the vocal commands. He said it removed doubt in a possible civil suit that you did give them fair warning and vocalized the consequences.

Remember when you claimed the AR was a terrible HD weapon? Good times

I wonder how that dude feels after this. On one hand you're a badass that killed 3 people attempting to come into your home. On the other, 3 less people are living because of you.

Id go with badass

I could be wrong, but once you can place burglars inside it is insanely hard to prove a bad shoot.

I think in a dark house it would seriously limit your vision and hearing for a minute. But I'll use it if it comes down to it.

That is how most rational people look at it, but in civil suits, depending on that jury make up, you can throw common sense out of the window. Criminal charges are almost always dropped immediately, it's the scumbags family who causes the next amount of legal trouble.

Our instructor told us, he got sued twice when he was an active duty cop for SAVING lives because the mother's in both cases insisted he didn't do more to get their children to the hospital and they claimed some kind of mental anguish BS.

He said imagine what will happen if you take a life if people sue you for SAVING their children.

It sucks but that is the society we live in. Shoot some scumbag? His mamma will insist he was a good kid and you are evil for stopping him from completing illegal activities.

Not blind. You will experience hearing loss for a while. It will most certainly cause some form of permanent damage. Best thing is to have earmuff close by or to buy a suppressor. Both in combination is best.
