Watched it last night for the first time in a while.

Still holds up.

I love everything about it.

Damn right it is.

Vicious fight scenes (Drexl, Safari Hotel), fantastic three way gun fight near the end, visions of Elvis and everything in between.

Has to be Tony Scotts magnum opus right?

Yes.

This movie is the cornerstone of my argument that Tarantino is a better writer than a director. He should write more and direct less.

If Tarantino had directed this, it would not be the masterpiece that it is.

Tarantino's writing style is kind of hard boiled Noir style, but his directorial style is too art house to really complement his writing style.

Scott absolutely nailed the tone of the script for this movie.

That could be a long discussion while having a few cocktails.

Perhaps you have forgotten a little film called Top Gun.

I do love True Romance, though. Slater was so cool and I fell madly in love with Alabama.

Pretty commonly known fun fact, but in case you weren't aware:

Elvis was played by Val Kilmer.

No doubt, Tony's filmography is solid.

Also little known fact. In Forrest Gump Elvis was voice by Kurt Russell.

Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Man on Fire, Crimson Tide, The Last Boy Scout...late 80's/early 90's epicness.

I saw this one about 8 times at the theater when it came out. Still one of my all time favorites and one of the best scripts tarrantino ever wrote

might be his best.

I think he says himself its his favorite and its his most autobiographical script.

It really is - Tony Scott had a light touch with QT's material and it was a combination that worked just right.

It is not a perfect film by any stretch, but every scene is crafted with just so much care and attention that the flaws are extremely easy to overlook. Some of the best acting of that era from the supporting cast, too.

Tarantino did some uncredited script work on this movie. Most notably the fight over whether Moebius was a better Silver Surfer artist than Kirby.

I'd pay so see a movie with Drexl's character reprised
