So you are saying that I come to a message board and lie about what I was told on the just 5 min before posting? The deal was $45 month off my bill and hbo free for 6 months and then it falls off. I'm sure it won't fall off but that's what they told me. I did have to agree to a 12 month contract. I agree completely that the company has gone to shite since at&t took over. The customer service has been absolutely horrible. However, where we live it's our best option.

did you read what I said? I know it was long so I dont' blame you.
I did not say you were lying. I said DTV told me something similar, then 3 months later said they never told me that and started charging me for the movie channels.
I was with them for a long time. I had never heard them give away the movie channels for more than 3 months, which is why I was shocked to hear them tell me i'd get them for a year, and I made them repeat that. They lied to me. I got them for 3 months. frick them. Had they said i'd get them for only 3 months, I would have went with Cox, but they said 1 year, so I went with DTV when I moved into my new house.

Customers were telling me there bill was different every month with no explanation, and this even happened to new customers who were supposed to have a fixed priced.
This has been happening to me the last 5 months. My Directv bill could be an episode of unsolved mysteries. The damn thing goes up for no reason. One time they tried to say I had 3 boxes when I had 2. One time they said I upgraded packages when I didn't. One time I had international fees for no reason. Along the lines of what someone else said in this thread. If directv was the only way I could watch tv I would start reading books. Been with them for 8 years but they have went to shite since att bought them. Done with them in June. frick em.

They're feeling tDecline in the NFL's popularity. A lot of their subscribers are there just for Sunday Ticket.

Was talking to a girl yesterday who said the only reason she has DirecTV is so her boyfriend can have Sunday Ticket.
I was like, you are paying hundreds of dollars a year plus the extra Sunday Ticket fee just so you can have NFL on 17 Sundays a year.
Regardless Cable/Satellite in general is an outdated model. On Demand viewing is the future.

I've been a DirecTV subscriber for probably 15 years. I loved them until ATT.
I've been considering a switch to get away from ATT, but they just ran gigabit internet in the neighborhood.

Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed a difference...
They were a lot more customer focused before. I NEVER had an issue prior to ATT taking them over. Anytime I would call in for something, I was promptly comped.
Now, when there is clear evidence that there person fricked up, they aren't willing to do anything to rectify the situation.

If you live outside your favorite team's market and want to be able to watch their games badly enough, it's worth it.

You guys realize you can buy your own equipment and just pay for the service right?

According to the FCC's website, for broadband providers like Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner, Charter, Cox and the over 800 local cable companies around the country, it's your right to purchase your own cable box and/or modem, install a cablecard on your own volition and, as a result of these actions, the cable company cannot charge you a penny more for choosing to not use their hardware.
"Right," you think to yourself, "but how much money could I really save? Buying my own box sounds more expensive than renting one."
"Most customers buy anywhere in between one and four boxes from us, which can amount in several hundred dollars in savings per year and several thousand dollars over the life of the cable box," says Jay Bianchini, lead activation tech and manager of third-party cable box vendor CableBoxandModem.com.
Bianchini, who has helped customers with over 5,200 installations, claims that it's not uncommon for people to save over $100 per cable box over the course of a single year.
"Most customers buy anywhere in between one and four boxes from us, which can amount in several hundred dollars in savings per year and several thousand dollars over the life of the cable box," Bianchini said.

Even when you buy the boxes outright, they will tack on "connection fees" that are shockingly the exact same as the rental fee

was with DTV since 2005 and cut the cord about 3 weeks ago and do not miss it.
They offered $60 for 1 year after my bill went up for the second time in 1 year.

I have ATT Uverse cable & fiber Internet . I keep my bill around $150 a month. When it creeps up, I call back and they find a discount somewhere and poof, it's back to $150. I like the ATT customer service. Man, I'm getting about the next time I need to call in.
