Your point? Oh, that's right... Nobody can criticize any LSU coach on a free message board.
Thats really the only comparison Coach O can win though. Hey Coach O is more qualified than a poster on an anonymous message board.

Louisville
No way their bball program brings in more than football.
ETA: "Despite the recent success of its football program, UofL basketball still brought in nearly $10 million more in revenue in 2015, a rarity among any schools."

The point is that all of these "critics", all of their "expertise", all of their "superior knowledge", all of their perfect 20/20 hindsight is worth............nothing. Day after day, the same gripes, the same tired old lines the same pouting like spoiled children: all if it achieving nothing, changing nothing, altering nothing.
Yet you continue pretending somehow that you are significant.
You have to admit that is funny in a bizarre way.

Well damn, I was wrong then. Crazy that bball makes more, considering how successful the football program has been for the last 15ish years.

Then ignore them. The thing that's funny in a bizarre way is how far out of your way you go to call these people out. It's a message board, a place for people to vent.

That said, it shouldn't be a football vs. basketball debate. It should be about maximizing profit. LSU ignoring the value of the #2 revenue sport is disappointing.

Take all the money saved and spend it on beer. Preferably Shiner Bock.

Let's not pretend we are a basketball school. A $3m coach isn't gonna put people in the seats. Even in 2006 the place wasn't full until almost March. That was the most fun we will ever have as a basketball team and nobody cared. Find a coach who can actually coach and make him earn his paycheck. This isn't a dream job for anyone. Let's be real.

I hope he has the most successful tenure in lsu history but there was zero reason to pay him 2.5 million and there was zero reason to give him a buyout.
Its $3.5M dude, not $2.5M, so I guess you are more upset. +/- $3M was what he was worth as the LSU coach and his 6-2 record and Ensminger opening up the offense, Aranda's tough defense and O's ties to La. got him the head gig and for a coach at LSU in 2017 $3.5M is what the market called for, and they used the extra money from Les's salary to get both coordinators.

the only market for paying 3.5 million for a 55 year old career dline coach that has never ran a successful offense, defense, or program is the one our clown AD created. Ed orgeron has the least qualified resume in the entire sec.
You dont pay a coach 3.5 million if his resume and qualifications dont add up to it.

They will never get it. They think Coach O salary is justified because of market value, but also a good market value to "save" money for staff. Any thinking man would offer the truth that there was ZERO market competition for Coach O as a HC besides LSU. That's the true market value.
There was no market for Coach O and the spin is ridiculous.

Saban and any competent coordinators is a better staff than ed orgeron and what we have. Good god
The fact that this post had 9 downvotes is freightening. I refuse to believe there are 9 people that truly believe ed Orgeron and our staff are better than Saban with competent coordinators.

Its crazy. A poster in this thread said he would take our staff over paying 10 million for Saban and 2 competent coordinators.
The mental gymnastics needed to get to that opinion is mindblowing.

Wait? Are you really saying you'd take Ed Orgeron,Canada and Aranda over Nick Saban and 2 competent coordinators?
What I'm really saying is frick NICK SABAN! We don't need that shite in Baton Rouge.

If it were you or me we would command min $2M, its LSU and what they pay. Seems like you are butt hurt because O is the coach and a cheap Charlie. I wanted another coach but O secured Aranda for a new 3 year deal and got the Off Coord that I wanted from the beginning- not Kiffen. So let's support O and don't worry about his $3.5M salary.
Oh, and laugh all you want, $3-3.5M was the market rate LSU was looking to pay a coach not named Meyer, Jimbo, etc... and O convinced them he was the man. Kudos to him for getting his dream job at a hell of a pay day. Don't you think that coonass will work his tail off to prove guys like you wrong and when he wins a title and gets $6-7M per year, I guess you will have a problem with that too

Implicit in all this is that we must have among the very best coordinators, because we don't have a qualified HC.
The best programs don't view this as "either or", but try to get the best and expect to pay for it. It's very expensive, particularly in the SEC west. We are unilaterally disarming and withdrawing from that race, hoping that excellent coordinators and keep it respectable and profitable .
Acadenmic bankruptcy and all...

I believe this is a good job that could be a great job. You have tradition, talent close by, solid but not too hard of a conference, etc.
Spend the money!
The money is gone.
