Heading to Vegas for my 2nd visit in a couple of weeks. After feeling like we walked 500 miles touring all of the properties, I'm looking forward to a more relaxing trip this time.
Based on some of the suggestions in this post, we got a few reservations for the following places:
Javier's @ Aria
Followed by Jean Phillipe for dessert
Brunch at Wicked Spoon (Cosmopolitan)
Gordon Ramsey's Steak (Paris)
Any recommendations for restaurants at Luxor/Mandalay to try before Criss Angel Show?

Mandalay had Kumi that was very good. I suggest getting a monorail pass to ease some of the walking for you.

I hope the same goes for my second trip

I really liked Tacos and Tequila inside Luxor.
Probably the best quality Mexican food I've ever had
But I see you have Javier's on the list and if you had to choose which Mexcian place to eat it, I'd probably go Javier's
Have fun

Burger Bar or StripSteak

You will not regret this choice. In fact...if you are a sweet lover...eat light at dinner to save room for dessert
Try the jalapeno margarita at Javier's. Sounds crazy...but actually pretty good.

Strip steak is one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to. Burger bar was mostly forgettable.

And all of it is a very short drive. I didn't make it to Valley of Fire this time around as the ex doesn't like to plan things properly. For example, notice I have on tennis shoes and jeans for a hike. That's her fault. LV has some great outdoor life that gets overlooked.

Always is
Welcome back to reality
Still daydreaming about going back

No, she lives out there now. Another ex lives out there too. I'm on good terms with them. LV is just a trip back home anyways.

Are you originally from LV?

I am going in August and rooms are higher than I thought they would be. I am wondering if I should wait it out. Any pro tips out there?

All I can say is Vegas is in the desert.
August is one of the hottest months, if not the hottest month, of the year
My last 2 days there, temps were in the low 80s.
That was the beginning of March, and it was freaking hot.. especially with all that walking around

Check and see what conventions are going on. Sometimes you'll have a few big ones at once and that can affect the rates. Also see what concerts and such are happening.

Last night my wife and I were trying to decide where to go on summer vacation. After looking at different beaches for about an hour my wife turns to me and says: "You know,I'm not really feeling the beach. You wanna go to Vegas again." Since we have been twice in the last year I wasn't gonna bring Vegas up, but since she suggested it I definitely said yes. We decided we are gonna try staying downtown this time. Probably staying at the D.

Friday and Saturday nights must have been fun
Here in Baton Rouge on a Friday night growing up:
Friend 1: "what you doing this weekend?"
Friend 2: "I don't know. you want to hit up a bar, grab a bite, maybe hit up Blue Bayou tomorrow?"
Las Vegas on Friday night growing up:
Friend 1: "what you doing this weekend?"
Friend 2: "we're in Vegas, what won't we do... top notch bars, top notch restaurants, hot girls everywhere, shows at every hotel, pool parties... it's Sin City bitch"

I honestly did the outdoor life more. I literally was raised in Caesar's Palace and the Stardust. At least until my parents could leave me alone at home. Then I never saw them. Got together with friends and went biking and hiking everywhere. My dad did take me to a lot of the NP's which are all within reach there.
