There was a hill which seemed like 25 deg incline for one mile. There was a range on top of the hill. I don't remember what range was up there. It wasn't the rifle, pistol, or grenade.
I just remember running that damn thing in full equipment.
BTW Delta 40, Jan 87

I didn't do Basic there but I did go there quite a bit after I came off active duty and joined the Alabama Army Guard. I think the hill you're talking about was named Big Ben.
I think all Army bases have their own version. At Knox we had three. They were named Agony, Misery, and Heartbreak.

I know agony, misery and heartbreak. 45E, 1995 basic and AIT at Knox. I also know the one in Anniston from guard duty as well. They are all pretty rough but misery was most miserable imo.

I don't remember any particular hill at Benning but Camp Casey has the Stairway to Heaven which is just stairs going up the side of a mountain. It's a bitch.

As I recall, there were two hills. Big Baines and Baby Baines. It may have been the M60 range but I'm not sure. Did OSUT 11-85/4-86 Co E 11th MP Bn then served there as a garrison MP for 18 months.

I was in A-10 1st PLT sep84-dec84. and think that it may have been named big ben. but that was so long ago that its hard to remember for sure

Oh yeah, I remember Big Baines and Baby Baines. I was in Bravo Company, 11th MP BN 6/83-10/93. They were a bitch at first, but towards the end they didn't seem so bad. I've been looking at pics of Ft. McClellan and remembering those times. Sad to see it looking like a ghost town now.

I completed USMC MP school at Fort McClellan (July-September 1996). A Marine buddy and I returned to Anniston a couple years ago to drive around town and what used to be the base. Freaking odd seeing everything shut down.

None of you pussies had to deal with Mt. Motherfricker and 1st Sgt’s Hill. Consider yourselves fortunate.
Just kidding about you being pussies. We can’t all be Marines. ;)

Fort Leonard Wood has The Rollercoaster. I believe the name speaks for itself.

Who does not love FLW, MO?
Come on the rollercoaster was a fun way to shed off those pounds you didn’t have.

I did AIT there in the late 80s. There were big hills that we ran up but that was during PT and not what you are describing.

I am a retired MP. I went to MP school at Lackland and then went through both the Army and Air Forces CID schools.

Sand Hill at Benning. I was there in 1995 at 258 / House of Pain. Loved every minute of it!!!

The only hill left, in what's left of Ft. McClellan, is Trench Hill. Not too long, but pretty steep.
