jeep and their 9 speed auto transmission are garbage

I know a lifetime Jeep buyer, who's buying a ford this next time. He's had enough of the shite transmission, and they have no plans on changing it.

Not sure what Fiat is doing, but many Jeep owners are livid with the shite tranny.

My wife's Grand Cherokee has it. It's fine.

My 96 lasted to almost 100k and I feel that's pretty good.

I had a 95 Chevy with almost triple that mileage. I was pissed when I needed new brakes.

Sorry to derail convo... but I've always found chevy motors to be great, but everything else on the vehicle has to be fixed.

What all have you put back into yours?

A guy I know has a 2011 Grand Cherokee and it's already crapping out on him. I hear different things about their reliability. I do think they look fantastic, though.

Dude, whatever. Your Jeep is helping you upgrade to a stronger axle, because deep down you know you want to run some 37" tires .

The crazy ex-girlfriend analogy is so correct. My YJ and TJ were pains in the arse, so I wisely got a JK now

My wife's is a 2014. The only issue we've had was fixed under warranty. Nav/touch screen went out. Bad connector or something.

It's been great so far. Damn good mpg compared to mine.

Mine has also been in the shop for brakes, brake line, air strut, and now a radiator hose. It's supposed to be a nice car. The GC has been better.

They are one of the best-looking SUV's, imo. Inside and out.

I only buy jeep, but they have has so much trouble with the new 9 speed auto tranny, that i'm thinking about shying away from them and buying a different brand, myself.

I get a employee discount on Jeep, so it was a free 1K in my pocket.

Which rear axle did you get? The Dana 44's should last better than that. Somebody may have more recent experience with them, but it used to be the 44 and 60 were just about bullet proof given the right setup.

I saw a jeep the other day that had 3 light bars on it. A 6' on the roof, 4' on the hood, and a 2' on the front.

How else are you supposed to be able to get an accurate shot at the deer from the passenger seat at night?

I'll admit, after seeing the episode of Top Gear where Clarkson had a light bar on his truck and referred to it as a sun, I've been wanting one.

ETA: Season 22, episode 6

Glad I bought a lifetime unlimited warranty through MOPAR. Got the paper work in a few weeks ago. It states the warranty will void upon my death.

A few years ago I was torn between a Wrangler and an Xterra. I was talked out of the Jeep by a relative and now, 150,000+ miles later, I'm glad I bought the Xterra !
