I've got the solution if you want to fix them yourself for a fraction of the cost of taking it to the dealership. $450 just in parts, not counting labor. I fixed them for $22 in parts and 2 hours.

The part that fails is a small electric motor in the door actuator. To repair it, you've got to remove the actuator and replace the motor. No soldering, just snap into place.

Happened to mine, thankfully it was under warranty.

Bookmarked just in case.

This is why I'll never buy JAP.

Give me a good tranny issue, but at least my doors will lock properly!

Depends what model. And this can also include certain model Chevrolets. My Colorado's door lock stopped working on the driver side, part was $150 from Chevy, $22 through Toyota. Part cross referenced and worked fine

Wish I had known a few years ago. Cost me a fortune to replace 2 in an Avalon. Couldn't even find parts in a junkyard network.

If this works, it's a real $$ saver.

This definitely happened to my Lexus. Fortunately I was under warranty so it costed me $0.

Happened on our Honda. I paid an arm and a leg to repair it.

The lock on the front passenger door of my 2014 GX doesn't actually lock, even though the locks click and the mirrors turn in. There is no telling how long this has been going on. Realized this about 2 months ago. I just haven't found the time to take it in. No longer in warranty. At this point, I don't leave any valuables in it and hope for the best. Hell, I have insurance.
Pisses me off though I drive a car 6-7 years and won't keep this past 4. Have had 2 land cruisers that I drove into the ground and 2 of my kids are still driving. Wish I would have never gone Lexus.

No way I can change that out and certainly not my husband. I am LOLing just thinking about it!!

This for keyless entry problems?

2006 4Runner here and my keyless entry fobs are dead. No biggie I'll just use the key. Recently I can't get the key to turn to the left in any of the keyholes to lock the doors.

So I have to open the door and lock the vehicle via the buttons. Which sucks when you are taking supermodels out to Red Lobster and shite.

My Tacoma driver side door lock actuator had needed replacing for a few months now.

I don't know shite about cars though and am not really comfortable removing the door panel.

Anyone want to do it for me on the cheap?

I actually did this a while ago as well. Huge cost savings. Here is a pretty solid tutorial. You can stop at the part where they repair the motor, and just buy a new one online.
I dont know squat about cars, so i was nervous. But it turned out to be pretty simple.
