You really think without durant gs is a gimme win for the rockets? This is why no-one takes you serious

Not if they get Durant in his first series back after a layoff they won't

They are one game v HOU away from being outscored on the season at the 75% mark. This is not a good team. Not a threat to win even one playoff series.
You're right, they are not a good team. The only reason they are where they are is b/c of how awesome Westbrook is playing. Every night he needs to score 35 and dish out 13 assists for them to win.
Harden has 4 guys that he can dish to that are shooting better than 38% from 3. These are guys that play 25+ minutes a game.
Westbrook has 2 guys shooting better than 38%, Abrines and Grant, who both play less than 20 minutes a game.

MVP don't go to a player who leads a merely average team. Believe me if Westbrook wasn't chasing rebs by not guarding his man, his team would be better. Mind bottling how people want to reward him for his team being worse when he has a pretty sizable role in that.

Kanter isn't the reason that he gets less rebounds.

Lol Harden or LeBron is MVP.
I'd vote Harden.
I'd vote Harden.

People seem to have quickly forgotten that the Rockets were considered a bubble playoff team in the preseason.

I give the nodge to westbrook for MVP, but both guys are deserving, and one of them has to come in second.
The thing Westbrook has going for him is his supporting cast is rather terrible. They are 2nd to last in 3P%. He literally has to do everything for them to win. It's not like he's just racking up stats on a bad team and losing. He's racking up stats on a bad team and winning b/c of it.
I'd have no problem is Harden wins it though.
In reality, the best player provides the most value, and Lebron is the best player in the NBA/Most Valuable.

My problem is that the Rockets and Thunder were considered equal teams going into the year.
We do this thing where instead of admitting we were just wrong, we pretend we were right so that just means that 1 player MUST be the reason why they're so much better than we thought? That's entirely illogical.
The answer there is we were just wrong on what we thought HOU would be.

I can guarantee you there has never been a MVP with a lowly +3 or whatever his ON court numbers are.

Lol. Every game between the teams has been decided by single digits you fricking idiot.

quote:So over the last 20 or so, they're a top 8 all time offense, and a top 10 defense, but have a 12-10 record?
over that time frame they are a top 10 d and have inched their way up to 8th best offense in the history of the league.

That sounds like one hell of a supporting cast, top notch.
Posted on 3/3/17 at 9:17 am to shel311
It's a conspiracy against the Rockets, NBA won't let them go 82-0.

Probably also haven't had many MVPs whose teams were still +5 when he's off the court.
Going back 10 years, the only 2 MVP winners whose teams were in the + when they were off the court. Kobe 2008, because his supporting cast was really good.
And DRose 2011, who we all know wasn't remotely deserving of the award.
So yea, you can't have it both ways. You can't say Harden is the MVP and give him ALL of the credit when his team is performing insanely well when he's not on the court.
Posted on 3/3/17 at 9:22 am to shel311
Hate to break it to ya. But having a better supporting cast has always helped someone's MVP case in the form of team wins, not hurt it.

Yep. Posted the link from David Locke last night re the D. And here's your offensive ranking. LINK
