we better be going after someone because Bell gave up about 20 touchdowns last year in cover 2 (atleast it felt like it)

You get 2 june 1 cuts prior to that date per team, they will likely still designate it as a June 1st cut, but the extra cap room it creates in 2017 won't actually be on our cap until June 1st. But yeah, they can do it.

Does this mean the Saints are making room to go after LSU S Jamal Adams in 1st Rd?

Saints have to be planning on making a big play on 2-3 guys with one probably being Fairley

Going after Hightower and Gilmore. Resigning Nick Fairley, plan on drafting Barnett, Thomas, Foster, Cunningham, or Hooker

Is he any worse than Byrd? Its not a coincidence our defense has been atrocious since he's been here.

You aren't wrong. Bell was bad, completely out of position more often than not. He looked a step late like rookie Anthony

As a June 1st cut (if designated as such) we save another $4.2 mil come June 1st.

But with Bell on the rise we had to make the move this year. Plus we have thar Harris kid coming back from injury and he was looking good (better than Bell in the preseason at times).

They save 3.2 million cutting him now and take 8 million in dead money (Pre June)

You can designate him June 1st

Also this is Ian reporting it

That's very dumb of them if this is true. The dead money would be cut in half if they cut him next season. I guess they think it's another 7-9 season

That article is extremely misleading.

We take on $8 mil in dead money, but still save $3.7(?) mil on the cap now (even counting the dead money; his hit was around $11 something mil), and if he's designated as a June 1st cut (which won't be known until we actually cut him) we save another $4.2 mil in June.

Really dumb if it's a pre June 1st cut.

Is that different from any other year?

Is the crop that's left that's different. This is a weak FA year for a lot of positions, especially ones we need.
