17-Year-Old Transgender Boy Wins Texas Girls' Wrestling Championship

The Texas state wrestling championships aren't usually national news. But they made headlines this weekend when a 17-year-old transgender boy — barred by state rules from competing in the boys' league — won his weight class, against girls.
I looked on this board and it hadn't been posted yet, but SIAP.
This is a wild case, IMO. I mean I have no problem with someone switching genders, if that's what you wanna spend money on, go for it. My main issue with this is if he/she was taking testosterone, shouldn't that be considered like a PED? I mean I feel like that should definitely be a banned substance. What y'all got on this?

"He wants to compete against boys," Merritt says. But under Texas rules, boys can't compete against girls, and students must compete as the gender marked on their birth certificate. That meant if Beggs wanted to wrestle, he had to do it in the girls' league. Which he did, with great success — he had an undefeated season.

Kid should be given a mental evaluation, not a trophy for wrestling

If you change genders you should not be able to play sports

Laws of unintended consequences. Call me whatever you want, but I don't think I could hit or wrestle someone who used to be a woman.

Well if she still has female parts, she is still a female, no matter how much testosterone she takes

She would be the best wrestler in Germany

This is beyond Germans. At this point, it's Prussian.

No, we actually need to encourage someone to call the NCAA's bluff on this since they want to involve themselves in the bathroom issue. Find a former men's college basketball player with a year or two left in eligibility who now "identifies" as a female. They either crawfish or sports, as we know it, are done. Bonus points for this to happen in North Carolina.

The whole taking roids seems to be getting skipped over by the media. Let them wrestle with the guys but no roids. Simple as that.

Women's sports as we know it are done.
Men will be fine.

My biggest takeaway from this is that there is women's wrestling. I had no idea that was a sport.

If she wants to be recognized as a male in society, I have no problems.
She should compete against boys. It's unfair to HIM to wrestle in a class that nots suitable to him and unfair to the girls he wrestles because he has a performance enhancing advantage

Why most we determine her orientation? Just because it makes us feel better?
Anatomically, chromosome speaking, her sex will always be XX. Ain't a damn thing she can do about that. thus she'll always been biologically a female even if she transitions with hormones.
Gender is just a social construct-- she can be whatever she wants and we should recognize that. Now if we have laws saying boys wrestle boys then she should be put into that class
