Then you begin encroaching on our free will. And what's the point in any of this if all our decisions are pre- determined. I still find it fascinating how much Calvinism took off.
I believe that God is omniscient. I believe that he sees and knows everything, from the beginning to the end. Knowing it and controlling or making it happen, however, are two different things. Thus, free will exists, but God already knows the choices that will be made. I don't think that you can believe that God is omniscient and also deny personal pre-destination. It's contradictory to do so.

i think it was clearly divine intervention that thoros of myr was able to bring Lord Beric Dondarrion back to life after he was killed by the Mountain.
if you believe in divine intervention in real life you have to be some kind of sociopath tho, there is too much suffering in the world for that to be real. i would hate to think every time i benefited from a lucky coincidence i thought it was because god was looking out for me when he clearly isnt looking out for all the starving children of the world.
or maybe they don't worship the right god so they deserve it

I consider it a miracle every time I look into my kids' loving, beautiful eyes and I don't drown one of them.

So what about intervention?

If you're a devout believer in God, everything is a product of divine intervention. "Everything happens for a reason"

improper to question the power of God, but having doubts in your belief is also a part of strengthening it in my opinion.
I'm glad you said that that way. I have always said that you can't truly believe anything unless you have considered the possibility that it is not true.

Humans aren't things. Human suffering is not seeked by a loving God. This is always brought up to disprove the presence of God or divine intervention and I think it's short-sighted.

Depends on how you define intervention, I guess. Knowing how everything must go may sometimes require a "tweaking" of an individual situation. That's far different than actually controlling everything that happens.
You know as well as I do that there are no easy answers to any of this. We cannot pretend to conceive in any way the mind of God. Yet, here we are attempting to do just that.

An all knowing God wouldn't be subject to human reason. You would need to assume that we fully understand right from wrong, when in fact our understanding may be severely lacking. Who are we to say what is logical or rational to a being that brought the very ideas into existence.

religious people tend to believe whatever is convenient for them. if they can believe in a pretend god they can pretend to conceive why he does things

If you believe, He is the judge.

Through luck and timing I've "cheated death" a couple of times... Was on top of the WTC a couple weeks before 9/11 and in Baltimore, their harbor ferry crashed /sunk I believe a few weeks or so it seemed after my family and I were on it .

i think the odds of being in those places during the general time frame of those 2 events is a lot higher than being there when they happened. I guess you're right tho, you're so important god made sure to plan those events specifically so that you werent there. the rest of those people that did die weren't as important as the role you have to play in life

When I was just out of college I didn't have the money for rent one month. The guy I was working for just "couldn't pay". I prayed and the next morning I go out to my car that had been locked all night and there was an envelope with enough money to pay the rent. No one else had access to keys.
So yeah - that was pretty miraculous to me

Remember, God created Adam and Eve.Once they ate of the forbidden fruit God asked them, "Why are you hiding?" Neither answered. God said, "I know why. You ate the forbidden fruit.", then Adam blamed eve, and Eve blamed Adam. Neither one of them humbly took responsibility for their actions. God gave them a chance to make it right. They did not apologize or seek forgiveness, so God punished them.
All they had to do was avoid ONE tree. They did not. They blamed each other. (God specifically created Eve and gave her as a gift to Adam. Adam told God he should not have created Eve, it was her fault.) Adam clearly rejected God's gift. Selfishness like this had no place in PARADISE, so God kicked them out as a punishment.
God did not create death. Death came to this planet through Adam and Eve, so did the chaos. The first murder on this planet occurred by Adam and Eve's child.
God created PARADISE for man as long as man remained obedient to God.
Adam and Eve were told they would not die; however, once they ate the forbidden fruit, and did not repent, they got kicked out.
GOD DID NOT CREATE SIN. God gave man a free-will, so man could choose to love God or not love God. Loving God has a blessing. Not loving God has a punishment. The choice is yours.
