I have a question for the bicyclists of the OT

When did the rules change and people began riding with traffic? I thought the rule was ride against traffic so you can watch the cars coming.
I live along the Natchez trace and always come across riders riding in the center of the lane, riding with traffic and have no idea when cars are coming.

Because we want to slow you down so you're late for work.

Rules have never been to ride against traffic. Bicycles are supposed to obey the same rules of the road as cars.

You have to yield to us. Deal with it.

Ugh. One of You people.
I'll never understand the logic. Oh look I'm on a 10 pound frame going 10 mph, let me ride in the road with 1,000+ pound cars and trucks flying by at 45+mph just 3 feet away.
Who cares if there's a sidewalk RIGHT THERE. I'm going to be a jackass with no regards for my own safety or the safety of others, I'm going to ride my little bike right here in the road just to cause a backup and or a wreck. Just because I can.
frick cyclist

the rule has always been that bicyclists can ride on public roads, but have to follow the regular traffic rules...which do not allow vehicles to travel in the wrong lane.
I am on the trace frequently and know exactly what you are talking about...the bicycle traffic on a Sunday afternoon is maddening..

The speed limit on the Natchez Trace is low enough without having to deal with cyclist. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

I like to ride a bike but realize who wins the car vs bike battle so I avoid the road as much as possible

One of the "share the road" spaces in the Shreveport area was also a main thoroughfare for oil field trucks during the oil boom. I did note that the cyclists stopped hogging the entire lane when the big trucks came around.
Saw two cycling douchebags riding on the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop - in the driving lane.
The cyclists riding on 175 between the Port of Shreveport and Frierson have actually been courteous and sharing the road for the last few years.
