For boiling crawfish, how many BTUs should I look for in a propane burner?

Mine is 210k I think. It gets a pot going pretty fast

This is the one I have. 180k and it brings an 80qt pot to boil in just under 20 minutes. From rolling boil, when crawfish get dropped in it takes 2m15sec to come to a boil again. Good stuff.

Just be sure your regulator is not over regulating your flow.

Our regulator had some kind of mesh screen in it. Took it out because it was way underpowered and now that sucker screams.

Go old school and run straight hose. lol

From my experience, it isnt about the burner, it is about the regulator.
My single jet old school bayou classic from 1983 gets a pot to a boil faster than my buddies brand new double jet burner.
Reason why is I bought a 40 psi regulator and he is still using the generic 10psi reg that comes with the pot.

What are the tips to prevent the tank from freezing up when using a higher pressure regulator?
I picked up this King Kooker Double Jet from Walmart Clearance for $30, but haven't used it yet. I believe it comes with a 10psi regulator.

First of propane is my life and everything I do. If you want to prevent your 20# (5 gallon water capacity) cylinders from freezing you need to manifold two together.
The trick is the second tank must be empty. 20# tanks are convenient but they do not have the sufficient vapor space in them to prevent freezing (boiling too much). I can provide a simple manifold kit to whoever needs them, or point you in the right direction

I don't what any of that means.

Instead of using one full tank use a tee connection with some hoses and fittings to tie two tanks together. One tank has to be empty

not sure if this is common knowledge but my local hardware store says that when exchanging out a tank ast the grocery store, its common knowledge that those tanks are about half to 3\4ths full.
I am guilty of exchanging myself but after he told me that shite, I have never done it again. hell its cheaper to refill anyways.
