Not sure if anyone mentioned it in here but I know this board has a love/hate with Xpress. Here's some of the sparknotes:
Beam: XBay 102" vs HBay 95"
Sides: XBay 28" vs HBay 24"
Transom: XBay 25" vs HBay 22"
Weight: XBay about 400-600lb heavier
Fuel tank: XBay 75gal vs HBay 30gal
Same 0.125 5052 gauge aluminum
X21B w/ 150 $33,995
X23B w/ 200 $37,995
H20B w/ 115 $25,495
H22B w/ 150 $29,495
H24B w/ 200 $33,495
21' XBay
23' XBay

What's the MSRP? I'd imagine it's a good bit higher for the same wet arse

That's what I'm thinking. A heavier, more expensive aluminum without the better ride of a glass boat? Am I missing something here?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now were beefin

But you are right. If I am gonna spend the extra money for a "larger" boat, I'm going glass.
OP FWIW - I have H20B. Haven't had it for long but I've stayed dry and love it so far.

For your use, there's nothing wrong with your boat. I'm just not sure what the benefit of this new boat is. Unless they beefed it up to a thicker aluminum.

I understand 17' and 19' aluminum center consoles, but what is the benefit of these in 21 and 22+ over fiberglass? Honestly curious?
ETA: That bow looks terrible. The entry into the water is so far behind technologically from top of the line fiberglass boats. Not just for staying dry, but for speed, smoother ride, etc.

Updated with comparable MSRPs and also cleaned up the specs

It was a good try by them but still a lot to be desired...still crappy unsealed storage, no lean post with ice chest, and also still will beat you to death and ride like crap...glad I got rid of my xpress. For 38k you can buy a nice glass boat...that boat rigged out will go for 50k so they are out of their mind.

Might have one behind us. It's gotta 150 on it and looks longer than 20'. Actually the best looking one I have seen, do they still ride low in the azz?

The side looks like the Excel bay boats.

They are great boats that really ride fine. The problem is, along w no dry storage, the placement of the console. Xpress "waste" a lot of room by not designing the hull/console where you can have easy 360 access. The front is just way to big. You have to put both ice chest up front instead of one under the leaning post.

This was my thought. Nothing wrong with owning one if it works for you. I just don't understand then beefing this thing up to compete against lower end fiberglass boats.
When I think of the consumer looking for a boat at a $35-$40,000 price point, I have to think that he is past the aluminum market and looking for the next step up.
Perhaps I'm over analyzing

Just guessing, the main advantage looks to be price.

My son has the 2017 H20B with Yamaha 150, rides really well and pretty dry too. Not a bad boat for a 21 yr old kid. He bought what he could afford. I'm eyeing up the 24' Blue Wave Pure Bay as my retirement present to me.

Except for the dry storage not being dry I'm totally satisfied with my 22' Xpress. I bought in '11. It handles rough water well, it works great in Big Lake when the water is rough and we are fishing the oyster reefs. Don't have to worry about chipping the fiber glass. Works great for tieing up under bridges. Works great when we night fish for white bass. Also when we make brush piles at Toledo, we use my boat. It's my first boat and I have no regrets of buying it. I can hit shite and not worry about it. Do trout lines, jug lines, etc. Easy to keep clean, lots of room. Easy to push off a big arse stump last month I stuck it on last month
As far as speed, mine goes 50 which is all I need.
Now if you're talking about strictly bass fishing, there's no logical reason to me.
I have several other people I bass fish with that have nice boats.

They are a great boat the h20bay if you are on a budget. I paid 24k for mine used it for 4 years and sold it for the same price. I enjoyed it but outgrew it and upgraded. If you just fish the marsh they are great boats
