Somehow I don't think the NCAA is going to allow a 1 year bowl ban for a team most likely to not play in a bowl fly.

based on my dealings with the NCAA, You don't get off by inflicting weak self punishment after the NCAA has already investigated and sent you their report. They let you off easy when you self report, inflict self punishment, and then show how you have remediated the control failure that let you break the rules.
My best guess is that NCAA is getting a John Henry type sledge hammer to drop on ole miss.
