Any federal loan program is eligible for disability discharge. This includes Subsidized, Unsubsidized, Perkins, PLUS, FFEL etc. This also includes any grad school, law, vet, or medical school loans, Unsub or PLUS .
The only loans not included would be a private loan through a bank or 3rd party.

Corporations don't know how you train, don't see it as valuable to learn, and can get thousands of qualified applicants with expefience and pay them 40k a year entry level thanks to the economy

K-12 isn't job training. A university isn't job training either.
There are tons of issues with education in this country, but cutting liberal arts programs and focusing on job-training/vocational programs will just produce a bunch of thoughtless cogs in the machine.

Medical School, Dental School, Engineering School, Law School...
You don't think those people leave university with job seeking credentials?
And you think these people leave with equal amounts of job potential as someone from a pure liberal arts background and/or degree?

You just mentioned a few graduate schools that are full of people with undergrad degrees in the liberal arts.

No, people need to pay their @#@#$@#$# debts. Can't believe anyone is so worthless as to suggest or believe something like this.

But there are so many deferment programs, interest only repayment options
How does this help pay down the debt?

Lots of young people out there doing great things. Good thing we didn't force those people to be plumbers.

There are few if any liberal arts majors in med school.

Also few if any liberal arts majors in dental school.

There are few (if any) liberal arts majors in engineering school. There were none in my class.

Law School
Probably the most likely place to find LA majors, but they have to compete with the hard science guys for spots.
Also at least for accounting and engineering it's possible to find work with undergrad degrees that have minimal if any LA education. My guess is those guys far outearn their LA counterparts and have less debt 7 years out without additional grad school.
Also it seems like your answer to my question about what a LA major can do for a job so far has boiled down to "go to grad/law school" and take on more debt.

No kidding. I would say many of them do this in spite of the public system. Bright folks are going to do well in life regardless of the educational system. I'm more concerned about kids who aren't so bright.

Back when I was involved in lending and collections, the primary defaulters of Student Loans: Doctors and Lawyers, truck drivers were always 3rd.
Doctors always claimed to be: too busy; thought their employer (hospital, clinic, etc.) was paying it off per contract; too self important to be bothered with such trivial matters.
Lawyers excuse: So sue me
Truck Drivers: Out on the road too much to remember to pay

That's pretty funny.
Always wondered how the statue of limitations worked for the defaulters - after 7 years is all forgiven?

Student loan debt is not dischargeable. I think that became law under Clinton or GWB, I can't remember.

Negative. The only way it's forgiven is if you die, or are permanently disabled. Even worse if the student dies and you cosign, you're still on the hook for his debt.
