Why NOW? That's just dumb to waste the money. Business move would be to wait and target your coach during the tournament.

It could actually give the team a jolt of energy to do it now.....what do you save by waiting to do it?

I don't get the practice of firing someone midseason, unless they do something unethical or illegal. We committed to him for the season, let it play out. At this point, it has to be apparent to everybody that he is going to be let go or he will resign. The Admin should already have a list, so they can start making inquires.
This rebuild is going to be very interesting. The new coach really can't pull in a bunch of players this coming season. There is only one spot available, but Blakeney probably leaves. So that will open up two scholarships. Then I'd be curious about some of the other players who committed because of Jones. Sims is his cousin, but he is also a LSU legacy. Reath and Heyward due to his international connections in Australia. Other programs will pounce on Mays and Sampson. Alexander and Rachal could/should have their letters rescinded and could reopen their recruiting. Unless this is handled properly, there could be a mass exodus. Which might be best in the long run. But will make it really tough for the new coach..

Bobby Knight couldn't energize this team.

Worth a shot, keeping Jones does nothing at this point

I think many fans want Jones gone now because they fear he might figure out how to turn the team around.

Fargas too.
Yea, let's fire the WBB coach when she is finally building up a winning culture again. I don't think some of you idiots realize how far the WBB program had fallen.
Add that, along with her having a baby and she is just now coming in to her groove. And it shows by the improvement they've made this year.
Some of you just comment on things without having any knowledge on the subject. Your stupidity is shown when you do this.

Would you leave a job that you're getting paid a million dollars for a subpar performance?
Do you really think he cares it's his alma mater?
No one wants him gone more than me, but he is not resigning. And it doesn't do a damn thing to fire him now. This team was done a long time ago. Unlike football, there was nothing to salvage. What's so hard to understand here?

The real question is how badly will he botch the hire?
There is zero reason to be optimistic after we saw how the football hiring went down.

Maybe, just maybe, he learned something from the football disaster

So she's very slowly building the WBB program into a team we'll be proud of in several years?

He's gone after SEC tourney. NO worries. He won't be back.

He's going to be fired, I'm not really worried about the timing unless it goes past the day after the season is over.
Finally, I get to make a CSB post.
FWIW, yesterday at the Box, I sat next to a faculty member who is on the athletic council. He said Jones is definitely fired after the season is over.

1-13 in the SEC and JJ still has a job?
What are we? Jackson State?

I take it you are not very happy right now.....

I went to the UNO game on Saturday, and they were hustling up and down the court, and diving for loose balls, I looked at my buddy and said that is something you will never see at an LSU game this year, and he just laughed!

who the hell cares? firing the coach midseason is something terrible nba teams like the knicks do. LSU is still a proud program and the coach has been with the program longer than half of the people on TD have been alive. Let him finish out the season, maybe make a run in a tourney somehow, who knows. But we can't keep caving to a whiny fan base.
